In a recent presentation, Vestaron CEO Anna Rath discussed the crucial need for innovation in the crop protection category for long-term sustainability in the agricultural industry; but also, for farming operations.  Two key features of our peptide-based insecticides are a 0-Day PHI that enables growers to spray and harvest immediately, and a 4-Hour REI. Because these insecticides are soft on beneficials, growers may apply them when pollinators are present. This type of flexibility makes for smoother operations and labor cost savings. Meet Impetus Ag, 2nd-place winner of “The Radicle Natural Plant Protection Challenge Presented by UPL”, an initiative to advance natural and biological solutions to protect crops from biotic stresses. Impetus Ag’s technology creates novel proteins that bind naturally occurring toxins to targeted insects that cost growers billions of dollars in annual crop damage. The first two generations of our proteins significantly increase the speed and magnitude of lethality, while also broadening the spectrum of potential targets. Our technology has demonstrated activity in pests that have developed resistance to current Bt methods of control both in Impetus’ and third-party laboratories. Our proteins are effective with both topical and transgenic applications.
