🗞 Our CEO Edward Bussey penned a piece for The Times today on why the commercialisation of the UK's science and deep tech research, where British universities lead in the world, should be at the top of the priority list for the new government. And, how it will pave the way for generating the UK's first £1tn company. Read in full ⤵ https://lnkd.in/gcv4saCU

Bravo Edward and all the team at Oxford Science Enterprises - inward investment into the UK should be a top strategic priority. Time for us all to cut thru the noise & start speaking positively and loudly about what the UK has to offer, especially in its rich and diverse cultural, educational and innovative / entrepreneurial & private sector/ business offering. We are open for international trade and have much to offer as a nation and bravo to The Times for this spotlight - there is much to talk about and champion 🙌🏼

💡 Great piece - whilst I wouldn't advocate for a US style wild-west of investment landscape - we really have to unlock capital in less risk-averse way here in the UK. But, and importantly we have to back it up by building the right talent and skills, or at least make bringing those skills to the UK as easy as possible.

I think it is misleading to focus on the £1tn or the unicorn objectives. The hard yards are the intermediate steps that require a variety of critical chasms to be crossed. Government can help with these but the most useful assistance with each chasm is very different.
