2 days to go: Facilitating Better Conversations in the Workplace Are you a Director or Leader in the Housing Sector looking to bridge the communication gap within your team? Don't miss out on our half day training session this Wednesday. Following our recent webinar, "Has the housing sector lost its spark?" one critical takeaway was the need for stronger communication between senior management and frontline workers. This gap is contributing to decreased motivation and a sense of undervaluation among staff. To tackle this, we've teamed up with Sebastian Taylor, Director in the Housing industry, to provide actionable strategies to enhance workplace conversations. Wednesday, 28 August 2024 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM Oyster HQ: 2nd Floor, 64 North Row, Mayfair, London, W1K 7DA Join us for an afternoon of advice, networking, and lunch. Only a few tickets remain, so secure yours via the link below: https://lnkd.in/eN2-2P_2 ____________________________________ #Housing #Communication #Workshop

Is it worthwhile to spend the time and effort on a TRUST-BUILDING course for your employees? You tell me. What time, productivity and precision are lost on the efforts to work around people (and relationships) who have low (or no) trust in each other? Let's talk about how my upcoming course, BUILDING A HIGH-TRUST WORKPLACE, can turn things around. Claire@ClaireLaughlin.com

The latest edition of Midlands Business Insider has just arrived in the office, and it’s a bit of a cracker. This month we run an exclusive interview with Richard Parker, the ex-Big Four accountant bidding to be Labour’s West Midlands mayor, and current mayor Andy Street’s moves to get better rail links North following the axing of the HS2 line to Manchester. We also list the Gazelles – the region’s consistently fast-growing companies. We’ve reports on Wolverhampton’s £3bn investment in city living and Northamptonshire’s economic growth. And we have a major report on dealmaking in the East Midlands. And were they not enough there are also reports on: · The Crisis Call: The leadership dream team’s a nightmare. Can you get them to wake up? · ESG at the SME: Green, inclusive and ethical – it’s an income-spinning strategy · Wellbeing: Can revamping your workplace improve mental health? · SME housebuilders: Can niche players help overcome the housing crisis? More than enough for me to suggest you should secure a regular copy of the Midlands’ best read, longest established business magazine. So to get your personal copy delivered to your workplace, at a discounted rate, contact my colleague John Hannon john.hannon@newsco.com 0161 686 2428

Improving communication & collaboration for better results | People Development Professional & Workplace Strategist
It is about the people! Experience Based Working or Environment Based Working who knows, but it is NOT about the activities. I feel so privileged on this trip to have been able to meet Andrew Mawson, of ADVANCED WORKPLACE ASSOCIATES LIMITED. Andrew has been helping organizations transition to hybrid models of work long before the pandemic. Sharing a coffee in Stevenage, UK and comparing notes with Andrew was a great opportunity. Andrew is someone I connected with early on in my entrepreneurial journey. We might be from opposite sides of the “pond”, but we both agree that one size misfits all. We separately had the idea that Activity Based Working needs updating to go beyond the Activities and chose the acronym EBW to make our point. Andrew with Environment Based Working and me with Experience Based Working. Andrew recently published an article in Forbes Magazine entitled “Is The One-Size-Fits-All Workplace History.”. Here he makes the point that that if we design the office and provide info about the ambient and environment conditions of the office environment, that workers can choose the best spaces that suit their personal preferences, sensitivities and tasks reducing the cognitive load and distractions. Whether EBW should stand for Environment Based working or Experience Based working is not the point. The point is we need to elevate the conversation and focus on improving the workplace to better support the employees using it.
