Just two weeks to go until our workshop: Facilitating Better Conversations in the Workplace If you're a Director or Leader in the Housing Sector and are looking to improve the communication flow within your team, join us! Following our recent webinar, 'Has the housing sector lost its spark?', one key takeaway was the need for improved communication between senior management and frontline workers. This gap is leading to decreased motivation and a sense of undervaluation among frontline staff. To address this, we have partnered with Sebastian Taylor, an experienced Director within the Housing industry, to deliver a half day training session focused on facilitating better conversations in the workplace. Date: Wed, 28 August 2024 Time: 12:30pm-4pm Location: Oyster Partnership, 2nd Floor, 64 North Row, Mayfair, London, W1K 7DA Join us for an afternoon of advice, networking and some lunch. Secure your ticket here: https://lnkd.in/e7Art9He or reach out to Jaspreet Bhogal for more info. ___________________________ #Housing #HousingSector #HousingEvent

The latest edition of Midlands Business Insider has just arrived in the office, and it’s a bit of a cracker. This month we run an exclusive interview with Richard Parker, the ex-Big Four accountant bidding to be Labour’s West Midlands mayor, and current mayor Andy Street’s moves to get better rail links North following the axing of the HS2 line to Manchester. We also list the Gazelles – the region’s consistently fast-growing companies. We’ve reports on Wolverhampton’s £3bn investment in city living and Northamptonshire’s economic growth. And we have a major report on dealmaking in the East Midlands. And were they not enough there are also reports on: · The Crisis Call: The leadership dream team’s a nightmare. Can you get them to wake up? · ESG at the SME: Green, inclusive and ethical – it’s an income-spinning strategy · Wellbeing: Can revamping your workplace improve mental health? · SME housebuilders: Can niche players help overcome the housing crisis? More than enough for me to suggest you should secure a regular copy of the Midlands’ best read, longest established business magazine. So to get your personal copy delivered to your workplace, at a discounted rate, contact my colleague John Hannon john.hannon@newsco.com 0161 686 2428

It is often said that the definition of Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I love that phrase and think it sums up our approach to service delivery at Professional Security. No finer example of this was the decision by David Fullerton Dir.IPSA and Abby Fullerton to fund 25 places on the Level 5 Crowd Management courses with the The Square Metre Group. This was offered to our operational management team to develop them both as managers and managers of crowded spaces. Our presence and position in the night time economy and hospitality sector means keeping the public safe is a responsibility we take very seriously. With the advent of Martyn's law this represents not only a sizeable investment but one with a high return on that investment. 12 managers have successfully passed their course with flying colours and we are shortly to embark upon the next round of development. The investment in the training of management demonstrates our desire to push standards forward in the sector. The volume and spread of the qualification means we are keeping people safer up and down the country and remaining true to our social value strategy across social value model themes of tackling economic inequality, covid recovery and even the well being theme. We are proud to work up and down the UK in cities that demonstrate proactive and progressive adoption of best practice to keep the Night Time Economy safe, secure, vibrant and most importantly enjoyable. So much hard work is put in by so many to achieve these standards. For example in my hometown of Liverpool, some exceptional work is being done daily by the likes of John Hughes, Kenny Brew, Phil Breen and Angie Redhead at Liverpool City Council. Their securing of Purple Flag status multiple years running shows how committed, how dedicated and how successful they are in delivering the highest standards in the city and make it a city people want to live in and revisit. We at Professional Security are proud to work in the city at over 20 locations and help to keep people safe, secure and wanting a return experience. We believe our investments and exciting plans for development of our service will help to demonstrate our position as the UKs leading night time economy and hospitality security provider. You could say we are looking forward to a Purple Patch! Thank you to my colleague Martin Leeder Dip.CSMP® M.ISMI for letting me use his certificate. #professionalsecurity #nighttimeeconomy #crowdmanagement

Interesting article in The Times, highlighting Irish Life's impressive work in innovating around physical, mental, and financial wellbeing as key parts of a comprehensive approach to prepare for long, fulfilling lives. It’s a great start and positive example for other organisations to follow. Expanding focus beyond Gen Z and engaging with those in mid and later life, would not only create a more inclusive and impactful approach, but leverage the wealth, health, loyalty and long lives of the most powerful (and often forgotten) consumers in today’s society - an opportunity not to be missed.
I want Irish Life to lead on physical, mental and financial wellbeing

As remote or hybrid work continues to be popular, it may pose challenges to bars and restaurants in office-dense areas. In this Economic Bulletin, John McCoy explains that, among businesses in the Tenth District, bars and restaurants in Colorado and Nebraska may be especially vulnerable to any loss of office-worker foot traffic. Strategies to increase foot traffic for non-work purposes could boost businesses located in office-dense areas. There is lots to be positive about in the north east office market. It's had a great start to the year. - Have a listen to Patrick Matheson on EG's 'Dealmaker of the Month' podcast with Jim Larkin. - He's talking about how our region is defying the tentativeness of the broader market thanks to the vibrancy of its town centres and the region’s strong transport links. - Paddy is the UK’s highest-placed office agent in the 'Radius On Demand Rankings' for January, with 38,727 sq. ft. transacted across seven deals. - He believes occupiers are now more settled in how they want to operate space post-pandemic, and says workers are welcoming the return thanks to the ease of commute and the pull of the city centre. - Although availability in Newcastle city centre is tightening, there are requirements for a further 230,000 sq. ft. of space across the north east, creating optimism about the year ahead. - It's well worth a listen - link in comments. #officemarket #northeast #Newcastle #Durham #Sunderland Nathan Douglas Invest Newcastle Invest North East England Parker Knights Bank House - Pilgrim Place Stephen Clifton Alastair Graham-Campbell Knight Frank #ukpropertymarket
