If not, why say them to yourself? One of the most powerful routes to growth is leading with kindness. But I know it’s a challenge sometimes. In every action, large or small, our efforts reflect our commitment to excellence. This philosophy, captured in the saying 'How you do anything, is how you do everything,' resonates deeply with me, and I believe it holds about 90% truth. Why not 100%? Because we've all witnessed occasions where individuals might not fully commit in one area—be it work, relationships, fitness, or spirituality—and it raises a question: Does this half-hearted effort spill over into other aspects of their lives? The principle is akin to the wisdom found in the parable of the 10 talents. Just as the faithful servants who were entrusted with few resources and managed them well were given greater responsibilities, we observe similar patterns in the business world. At Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co., when a sales representative excellently manages a smaller account, they're often entrusted with larger, more significant accounts. It's a testament to the trust and responsibility that comes with proven diligence. So, let us challenge ourselves to invest our talents wisely and be diligent stewards of what we're given. Like the good stewards in the parable, let's strive to earn the trust and reap the rewards of our hard work, proving that we can indeed be trusted with much when we manage well with little.

Posts come to me at the craziest times... This one, while davening Shachris for the Amud. (Leading the prayers) Coming to Shul each morning and staying till the very end is not easy. The day is starting, and there is so much to get to. It is also the longest tefillah (prayer) of the day. Yet, when davening for the Amud, it's so much easier. Aside for the practicality that you can't just walk off the Amud😄 YOU are LEADING! When you are a leader, you are involved ,orchestrating, directing, and so much more. The energy is there. Whatever position you are in, you can be a leader. Lead by example. Show your energy. Show your passion. Others will follow. When you are a leader you will fill more fulfillment. You will enjoy your position. Time will pass much quicker! (P.S. Why the Small Details Matter: Van Halen, M&M’s and a Personal Experience Don’t underestimate the power of the small things. If a presentation features four slides, each with a different font, what other details might be overlooked? Ignoring the basics during a sales process could signal more significant issues, potentially affecting client or organizational trust. In the 1980s, Van Halen's tour contract included a seemingly trivial clause: a bowl of M&M’s with all the brown ones removed. The band would check the bowl before each concert. While the M&M’s themselves weren’t the focus, the clause was a proxy for more crucial requirements, like electrical codes and stage weight limits. If the simple request was ignored, it suggested that the more critical requirements might have been neglected too. The M&M’s weren’t important, but they ensured that the larger, vital details were likely handled correctly. This lesson extends to our professional lives. Small details can significantly impact the overall experience. Think of the small touches at a fine restaurant or hotel that leave a lasting impression. Recently, I had an incredible lunch with a colleague over Venezuelan sushi (a delightful surprise if you haven't tried it yet!). I've had the honor of leading this individual for several years and have learned as much from him as I hope he has from me. Part of our interactions involved assisting with data requests from the US federal government, which included many small but critical details. At lunch, he handed me a card with gratitude, having successfully obtained his green card. The heartfelt thanks he expressed reminded me of the Van Halen story. It underscored in a very meaningful way that even small contributions can play a crucial role in someone’s success. Thank you to my friend for sharing this milestone with me. Here are 5 takeaways from my time with Michael King in Dallas this morning: 1. Confidence is earned through preparation, hard work, experience, and intentional action. Trying to appear confident without putting in the reps is actually arrogance. 2. Take the time to ask the question “What is good and right?” at the highest conceptual level. This will breathe life and conviction into all of your tactics. 3. If your business is winning and your family is only experiencing you as stressed and underpaid, something is off. 4. Professionals ask for feedback. Be a professional. 5. When getting advice from others, focus on inspiration not duplication. Draw energy and insight from their principles, beliefs, and philosophy. This is more effective and sustainable than trying to copy/paste their tactics. - NEVER underestimate the power of intentional time with someone you respect.
