Jaime Molina knew that with hard work, an in-demand career in manufacturing was possible. With supportive services from grants administered by the American Job Center, Jaime graduated from two essential courses at MASC's Technical Training Center in Waterbury, Connecticut, and moved into affordable housing with the Center for Human Development's Homeworks program. Professional curiosity. Yesterday was our annual strategic planning day for Home-Start Kettering. I always enjoy these days. It’s a chance to reflect on our 3 year plan. What’s working and what needs improvement. We take a deep dive across our 4 pillars: 1️⃣ Support: how we show up for our families 2️⃣ Funding: how we raise funding and what we do with it 3️⃣ Staff & Volunteers: how we maintain a healthy and motivated team 4️⃣ Operational Standards: how we operate effectively and efficiently I’m surrounded by a brilliant and diverse team. A team with way more experience in this space than me. I have so much to learn - which included the phrase “professional curiosity.” We were discussing safeguarding - a really important area for us with our support for families. The context being that no one should be afraid to challenge something. To ask those difficult questions. To not simply assume that everything is ok. Yes this conversation was in relation to our work at Home-Start Kettering Area. But the principles can be applied anywhere. In business for sure. Ask those difficult questions. Challenge assumptions. Ask why is this so. Maintain that professional curiosity. We’ll all be better for it. PS here’s a photo of our recent new cohort of volunteers. They really are an amazing bunch
