18 April 1951 | Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and The Netherlands sign the 'Treaty of Paris' establishing the European Coal and Steel Community. The Schuman Plan is ratified. Main enemies during the war are now sharing production of coal and steel. "By the signature of this Treaty, the involved parties give proof of their determination to create the first supranational institution (...) This Europe remains open to all European countries that have freedom of choice. We profoundly hope that other countries will join us (...)" This is the video animation released some years after by which the newly created European institutions explained to the world the European Coal and Steel Community.
