Do you like watching concrete being poured, or are you an Engineer? Andreas Olshausen was out at Coal Creek Utility District’s 580-zone reservoir site, watching the concrete slab pour for their new decant facility, which he designed. As the Project Engineer, he’s making sure everything’s on point! 🔍👷♂️ Concrete may set, but the excitement never does! #EngineerLife #PACEProjects

We’re excited to share the latest updates on our Cameron Park Reservoir project, where our collaboration with Hunter Water is driving enhanced water resources for the community. WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING? We’ve achieved a significant milestone with the installation of the 26-metre diameter roof, which is centrally supported by a single column to meet Hunter Water's chlorine mixing requirements. The roof and stair tower structures, weighing just under 20 tonnes, were assembled using a 60-tonne crane and electric boom lifts. BUILDING STRONG FOUNDATIONS Considerable effort has gone into reaching this stage, including: Directional Drilling: Completion of two major directional drills, installing DN 450 and DN 180 HDPE pipes with minimal environmental impact. Water Mains Installation: Laying 1280 metres of DN 560 HDPE bidirectional water mains along the access road, integrating critical components such as Scour and Air Valve Tees for a fully operational water network. 50 meters of DN250 HDPE has been installed connecting the Cameron Grove lead in main. Concrete Works: Pouring approximately 150 cubic metres of concrete for the reservoir base, engineered for long-term durability. Reservoir Walls: Construction of the reservoir walls in 2.4-metre-high segments, culminating in a final 2.5-metre segment, reaching a total height of 7.3 metres. Each segment used around 60 cubic metres of concrete, creating a structure built to last. LOOKING FORWARD As we move closer to completing the reservoir, pump station, and associated pipework, our focus will shift to finalising stormwater systems, electrical installations, site remediation, and commissioning. It won’t be long before the reservoir goes online, securing future water supply for the communities of West Wallsend and Cameron Park. OUR COMMITMENT Every step of this project is taken with an eye on sustainability and efficiency. Our construction methods like horizontal directional drilling keep our environmental footprint small, proving that big projects don't have to mean big impacts. We’re proud of the progress made so far and look forward to sharing more as we continue to build a better future for Cameron Park. #enablingcommunitiestothrive #sustainablewaterinfrastructure #diona #WaterInfrastructure #CommunityDevelopment

I thought this was worth sharing with my LinkedIn community - Are you dealing with contaminated ground and looking for a geotechnical solution? Look no further! Bachy Soletanche's team of talented engineers has recently offered an alternative solution to a major EPC Contractor for a project initially designed as a CFA replacement piled solution. High levels of contamination were discovered during site investigation, making the cost to remediate/remove spoil material not cost-efficient. Our team was able to offer a displacement Screwsol alternative, eradicating contamination issues and saving time and concrete for our client. If you are considering a ground replacement solution in granular materials, it's worth making contact with Bachy Soletanche to discuss the potential value our displacement solutions can bring to your projects from a cost, program, and environmental benefit. Today, I delved into an insightful article in the "Concrete International Magazine Feb 2024 V46 No2," which presents a poll elucidating the distinctions and challenges between Portland Cement (OPC) and Portland-limestone Cement (PLC). The poll yielded noteworthy results: 56% of respondents encountered more issues with PLC than Type I. From 29 comments: 7 pertained to strength-related concerns. Others addressed diverse issues such as cracking, setting times, water demand, slump variation, scaling, and finishing. Examining this research, I empathize with fellow Civil engineers grappling with the challenges posed by this transition. Anticipating additional data, I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of working effectively with this material. For those interested in a more in-depth exploration, the full report is available in the February issue of the American Concrete Institute #civil #engineering #concrete #1L

A great solution when the underlying stratum is optimal.

design calculation of zincalume water storage tank https://lnkd.in/g3yCzY3b In this calculation we are going to design zincalume water storage tank, for that I am using AS 2304 specification code. in this calculation we have structural design actions, seismic design, wind buckling ,bolt design and anchor bolt design. All the design done by AS 2304.

Esteemed #DCPilots Oskar Eikrem, Ola Georg Holten, and Magne Kaplanski had the pleasure of being some of the first to use the recently developed and powerful Deep C® “Pile & Wellbore Dredge Tool” or PWDT. 👷🏻😎 With up to 1.000 bar pressure and extremely high water-flow rates, the PWDT is capable of disintegrating solid concrete with over 50 MPa or 50.000 kPa (!) shear strength. BOOM! 🚀 Building on the experience from over 2.000 pile cleaning operations on windfarms worldwide and a thorough understanding of fluid & sediment dynamics, Deep C water-based approach stands out as the most efficient, gentle and precise method for removal of hard substrates. 🌊💯 Avoiding the use of mechanical (and vibrating) equipment such as impact hammers and similar not only reduces wear and tear on our equipment (allowing for longer periods being submerged), but also eliminates the risk for vibration induced damages on adjacent pipelines or other critical infrastructure. 🚢 And for the nerds; 🤓 Compared to conventional mechanical equipment requiring 10-30 kN applied force to break loose cement, our PWDT requires only about 0,5 kN while being even more efficient. 💪 For the nerds II; The Deep C 250 kW of water-blasting power equals 1:4 power ratio compared to mechanical (typically up to 65 kW) to disintegrate clay and concrete. 💪💪💪 With a very low acoustic footprint, it also provides environmental advantages, as marine life is less affected and fish can often be spotted swimming around our work sites. 🪸🐟🌏 (Photos in the video: Oskar Eikrem) Get in touch here to learn more about what we can do for your future dredging project: https://lnkd.in/dUyrUtZ3 #DeepC #offshorewind #renewables #welldredgetool #piledredging #p&a #powerofwater
