On a personal note, I have two scholars at Laura Jeffrey Academy in 8th grade. Last night some parents met to talk about high school options. Some of the interesting topics we discussed were the emotional impact (grief) of their friend group changing, their anxiety about who their friends will be in their new school, and what kind of selection criteria the scholars have for a school versus what the parents perceive as important.
Since “LJA” is a smallish and a charter school, many parents have been investigating options for charter high schools which are typically smaller than the Saint Paul School District high schools.
There’s quite a few tours or open houses coming up since the application process ends around the end of January or early February in many cases. The spreadsheet below has some of the dates on it, and if anyone has a 5-8th grader, Laura Jeffrey has been a great choice for us. DM or call me to talk if you have any questions.
