Morris served as a university trustee for Indiana University and Indiana State University and twice served as chairman of the IU Board of Trustees. He also served on the executive boards of UNICEF, the National Advisory Board for the Boy Scouts of America, the United States Olympic Committee, Riley Children’s Foundation, the American Red Cross, Hulman & Company board of directors, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway board of directors, the Eiteljorg Museum, and the Indianapolis Power and Light Advisory Board. A wonderful leader & better person. RIP Mr. Morris.

A tremendous leader whose passion for our community was infectious. This is a loss that won't soon be filled. What a life and legacy.

I’m simply crestfallen to learn that Jim Morris has passed away. For many years we both served on our local Red Cross board together, and I saw him at several SKL leadership events. But more importantly, few people know of the pivotal role Jim played in luring Kiwanis International to move their global headquarters from Chicago to Indianapolis. And that’s what I most admired about him…his modesty and desire to do the right thing for our city, state, nation and the world. I last saw him last September when he was the featured speaker for our first Contemporary Club program of last season. As vice-president I was able to publicly thank him for his many contributions and let others know how he and others helped Kiwanis build our headquarters in College Park with no mortgage, which has helped us keep member dues low. Jim was a true team player and will be missed. I’m guessing he will be a ringleader in the Kiwanis Club of the Pearly Gates. Jim truly embodied Pure Kiwanis Goodness.

Jim’s leadership and dedication were truly unparalleled. He was not just a visionary in the sports world but also a beacon for kindness and compassion. His contributions were inspiring and his unwavering commitment to excellence and philanthropy is something we should all strive to emulate. To everyone who had the privilege of knowing Jim, he was more than a leader; he was a wonderful mentor and friend to many. His wisdom, compassion, and generosity will be profoundly missed, but I hope his spirit continues to inspire all of us. Thank you, Jim, for everything you have done. Your impact on our community and the world of sports will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to Jackie, his family, friends, and all who mourn this tremendous loss. Rest in peace, Jim Morris. You will be dearly missed.

Legend. My heart goes out to the entire organization as know what he meant to Indiana basketball and the community.

So terribly sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Morris. An inspirational leader to so many. He’s at the absolute head of the line for the most important figures in the growth of Indianapolis from the 70’s through today. Despite his stature within the community he and Jackie always treated the little guys warmly and with respect and I will never forget that. Condolences to Jackie and the entire Morris family. Jim was a great man.

There are servant leaders and then there was/is Mr. Morris. The city and state where we live, have raised or raising our families is a much, much better place because of Mr. Morris. It’s hard to imagine what Indy would be like without his humble demeanor and leadership. His purpose was to help create a quality of life for Indianapolis and Indiana that none of us could have envisioned at the time, but we are all immensely proud of and grateful for today. I’m truly honored to have met him and known how much he meant to so many. RIP.
