The scale of humanity’s meat consumption is enormous. 360 million tonnes of meat every year. It’s not just about how many farm animals are killed but also the suffering they endured while they were raised. The majority of the world’s farm animals are raised in dismal conditions. Meat production has a number of large negative impacts on the environment, wildlife, and our health. Billions of animals are killed every year for food. Choosing to replace the meat on our plates with delicious plant-based protein is one of the most impactful steps we can take toward reducing and eventually eliminating this unnecessary suffering. #anumeenacare #nonprofits #stopmeateating #govegan #animalwelfare

The biggest conservation charity in Europe, the National Trust, could go 50% plant-based to help it reach net-zero by 2030 ⁠ ⁠ In recent years, the trust has been taking steps towards becoming more sustainable. Our sustainable and socially responsible ‘Green Buddies’ initiative, which began at the Sentido Galo Resort and was subsequently extended to other Sentido and Calimera hotels, has now also found its way to the Playitas Resort Fuerteventura Resort.🌱When guests hang the Green Buddies on their door, the daily room cleaning is dispensed with, thus saving a large proportion of resources💧. The Green Buddies are produced as small, cute goats by the local non-profit organisation #AECC (Asociación Española contra el Cáncer), which is made up of patients, family members, volunteers, employees and professionals. The proceeds from the production go back to patients in need to subsidise treatment and improve their lives. Why a goat🐐? The results are in! We analysed over 2 million sales to find out whether Veganuary campaigns have a long-lasting impact on sustainable food choices. 🌎 By tracking the sales of plant-based products in 36 workplace restaurants, we found that Veganuary campaigns DO have a long-lasting impact by boosting the sales of plant-based items each year. 👩🍳 With approximately 60% of food-related greenhouse gases a direct result of meat-based production, we are excited to see how this study can impact businesses, charities and government campaigns as we work towards meeting Net Zero goals. ♻️ #contractcatering #sustainability #netzero
