If I could only count the number of times I've been called resilient or inspiring just for navigating ableist systems. It's time to stop glorifying the struggles of disabled individuals and start addressing the negligence and ignorance that perpetuate these challenges. #DisabilityAwareness #StopAbleism #InclusionMatters #AccessibilityForAll #DisabilityRights

Stop labeling disabled people as 'inspiring' for surviving a rigged system. The real inspiration would be tearing down the ableist structures that oppress them. Accessibility, inclusivity, and equal rights aren't optional—they’re overdue. #DisabilityRights #DisabilityInclusion #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong #SDGs #Accessibility #Equity #EqualRights

Telling a #disabled person that they are resilient is not the compliment you think it is. People often tell me I'm resilient. They don't understand why that word irritates me. This is why: It’s a way of saying that tearing down ableist systems isn’t necessary because disabled people cope. We're resilient. We find ways around barriers, through barriers: we live our lives despite the barriers. We survive. Imagine what we could achieve if we didn’t have to dismantle ableist infrastructure and attitudes every single day. Imagine if we could move from surviving to thriving. That's the world I want. I don't want to have to overcome barriers: I want to move forward in a world without them. I want to live in a world where survival isn’t the goal. I want a world where I can thrive.

Have you heard about the viral ad campaign turning heads worldwide? People with Down syndrome are reclaiming their narrative with a powerful message: "Assume that I can." 💪 In partnership with global organizations, including CoorDown and NDSS, this campaign is sparking vital conversations and breaking down barriers. From challenging stereotypes to advocating for inclusion, it's time to redefine what's possible. This campaign was made for World Down Syndrome Day, but I believe its impact extends far beyond a single day. It's a reminder of the resilience and determination within every person, regardless of ability. It's about celebrating the unique strengths and capabilities that make us all shine As we celebrate the boundless potential of every individual, let's remember: together, we can make a difference—one story, one assumption at a time. 💙 #AssumeThatICan #EndTheStereotypes #WorldDownSyndromeDay #WDSD24 #InclusionMatters #NDSS #InclusionMatters #CompassionateConnections #SpreadLove #KindnessMatters #CompassionInAction #BeTheChange #SpreadKindness #InclusiveWorld #CompassionInAction #OptimismInDisability #WamplerAdvocacy #DisabilityEducation #CompassionForAll #TheWamplerFoundation #Diversity #Inclusion #StephenJWamplerFoundation
