Celebrating another year as a Social Media Manager & another year in corporate America! 🥳 Today marks another milestone in my journey as a marketer. Over the past 2 years, l've had the incredible opportunity to connect with amazing audiences, craft engaging content, and drive impactful campaigns. 🌟 My last 2 years have been nothing short of an adventure. From an acquisition to being placed into a dream team, I have to admit, I was very worried about my career path. Nearly all of those who I looked up to for career support warned me that corporate America was scary, challenging, and "nothing like the local mom and pop shops." Instead, I have felt supported and gained great role models in marketing/corporate America. I'm grateful for the support of everyone on the Regal Renord marketing team and legacy Altra. 🙌 Here's to more innovative ideas, successful projects, and continued growth. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey! 🚀 - Side Note - The photo below I took the morning of my in person interview. A bit of a funny story, I had no idea that it was a ending step interview. I thought I was just meeting the team and signing some papers. You know, in person stuff! It dawned on me when one of my soon to be favorite coworkers ran up to me and said, “So you have the job?!” 🤣 #WorkAnniversary #SocialMediaManager #Greatful #Growth #Teamwork

Board Advisor and Independent Counsellor on Reputation, Crisis, Risk and Resilience. FRSA, FPRCA. Visiting Fellow, Cardiff University. PRovoke Media 2023 EMEA Innovator25. rodcartwrightconsulting.com
30 years in comms, five years of independence, four en-route thoughts Today is pretty big - the birthday of our wonderful, newly-minted graduate Hannah Cartwright and that of my late mother. But it also marks 30 years since my very first day in comms - as an unpaid PA intern in Edinburgh - and five years since we opened the doors of Rod Cartwright Consulting. And I'm only just getting started! It's been quite a ride, taking in UK, European and global roles at agencies including GCI Health (then GCI), Hill & Knowlton, Ketchum and Text100, constant volunteer work for PRCA, Chartered Institute of Public Relations, European Association of Communication Directors (EACD) and Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, and five years of independent practice. So what would I advise that fresh-faced wee soul to consider, as he embarks on the unknown path ahead. Four umbillically-linked thoughts struck me: 💡 Ability (and its application): It certainly doesn't hurt to have a bit of raw talent. But talent without hard work, application and constant, conscious evolution only goes so far. 😃 Decency (borne of integrity): Truistic, perhaps, but treating people with respect - regardless of their role or position - has to be a bedrock of your being. That starts and ends with knowing what you stand for, believe and value. ❤️ Generosity (with no expectation of return): You make a living from what you get, but a life from what you give (they say). Fridge magnet-worthy or otherwise, it's also utterly true. You'll realise that a career is actually a lifelong baton-pass. 🕵🏼 Curiosity (driven by humility): At 24, you probably think you know it all! Over the decades you'll hopefully realise that you'll never know as much as what you don't know. All the more reason to be perpetually curious and actively set out to learn one new thing from someone every single day. But there's a final missing ingredient: the people. So alongside my sincere gratitude to every single client - past and present - who's made the journey possible, a from-the-heart thank you to the following: for the job, the role, the inspiration, the friendship, the collaboration, the fun, the learning and the light, at the moments that truly mattered across the years. You (hopefully!) know why. Alison Cairns Andrew Dunlop Dwight Demorais Adrian Wheeler Rhodri Harries James Barbour David Gallagher Avril Lee Sarah Barrett Dale Bornstein Greg Dauphin John Bailey John Bradbury Simeon Mellalieu Matthew Wall Aedhmar Hynes Sam Theobald Cecile Missildine (Roux) Lee Nugent Kate Hartley Tamara Littleton Souha Khairallah Emma Ewing Stuart Bruce Louise W. Chris Tucker Katherine Sykes FCIPR Chart.PR Finally - and most importantly by far - without my wife, partner-in-crime, muse and cornerstone, Elaine C., not one jot of the last three decades would have been possible, meaningful or valuable. Thank you doesn't even come close, EMC 🙏 . #pr #publicrelations #career #cpd #leadership #business

It was a challenge, you lost a lot of sleep but eventually you saved the day. kudos!💪 🥂To our siblings, the media, for the role you play in our business of shaping narratives. Thank you! 💜 🥂To our cousins, marketing, people often get us mixed up but thank you for always complimenting what we do. 👏 🥂To that photographer we have to hound for images post event 🙈. Get to know Ayaka Otsuka, our Strategic Solutions Senior Coordinator! ⚡️ Q: Did you always have a desire to work in sports? A: Yes, I did! I played multiple sports growing up. Sports have always been the center of my life. I also wanted to expand my perspectives, so I decided to move to the U.S. and work in sports in this country. Q: How’d you get your start? A: My career started with the LA Sparks when I was in college, where I was able to learn about corporate partnerships, from sales to activations. After graduation, I started working at the Chargers as a seasonal assistant for the Corporate Partnerships department. Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job and why? A: Not an exact part of my job but I enjoy the whole process of creating partnership solutions with internal and external teams. I can feel a little achievement and growth every time I get a project completed with coworkers. Q: What advice do you have for those trying to get into sports/starting their career in the sports industry? A: Be bold to go with your gut! Once you find out what you would like to pursue, enjoy every step and experience to get to your goal. There are always people who support you along the way. Q: How has your heritage shaped the person you are today? A: Born and raised in Japan, I was taught that being humble is an important aspect as a human being. You should appreciate the people that surround you and be respectful and considerate towards others. This value helps me keep growing. Q: As we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, what are some aspects of your culture that you enjoy sharing with others? A: Japanese food and anime culture. Food and pop culture can be a tool to share good times and experiences with people who have different backgrounds and cultures. I think that is a great thing! #workinsports #strategicsolutions
