c/p: Last week I began the Journey of Physical Therapy. The Therapist for our first meeting had to determine where I am to develop a treatment plan to get me where I need to be to have better movement and less pain. There were times he would have me turn or bend that brought on the Pain. Then he would with his hands press on a spot that would make a dry baptist shout. He would asked questions about how active I currently was and then would asked am I committed to getting better. All of this to help me get physically sharp again. Brother, I pray that you have a brother who like the Therapist is helping you to be Sharp Spiritually. The questions we are working through are tough. So if you do not have a fellow Iron Warrior let me encourage you to ponder these questions. May we all asked the Holy Spirit to show His Plan to help us get Spiritually Sharp Again. So we can be Mighty Iron Warriors for the Lord, for our families, and for our fellow Iron Warriors. REVIEW OF PAST QUESTIONS: What have you held back from God that you need to surrender? Is there anything that has dampened your zeal for Christ? So now lets us consider these questions for this week? Do you have any of your financial dealings lacked integrity? Have you exposed yourself to any sexually explicit material? Have you spent adequate time in Bible study and prayer? HERE IS THIS WEEK Are you engage in gossiping about another brother in Christ? Are you a man who word can be trusted? Is there any bitterness towards anyone (wife, children, grandchildren, father, mother, brother, sister, co-worker, boss, a brother in Christ or a sister in Christ)? We both are under construction brother and we both need to hold each other up in prayer. We need each other in order to be Sharp Iron Warriors for our King Jesus. It at times is painful but when we cross the finish line we will hear, “Well Done My Mighty Man of Valor! Look around you Warrior because you were a faithful Warrior there are those here in heaven because you boldly told them about Me.” Have A Great Week and May the Lord richly bless you. “As iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].” Proverbs 27:17 AMP

Healing Through Colors: Art Therapy in Trauma The scars of complex trauma run deep, etching themselves not only on physical landscapes but also on the minds and hearts of those who endure it. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are increasingly employing a powerful tool to mend these invisible wounds: art therapy. Art therapy utilizes creative expression through painting, drawing, sculpting, and other mediums to help individuals process trauma, navigate difficult emotions, and find pathways to healing. In trauma processing, where traditional verbal communication may be overwhelmed by the sheer weight of experience, art therapy offers a safe and non-judgmental space for expression. Imagine a child who has witnessed violence, struggling to articulate their fear and confusion. Through art therapy, they might paint a chaotic scene, a jumble of dark colors representing their inner turmoil. The therapist can then guide the child to explore these emotions, perhaps suggesting brighter colors or calmer scenes to represent hope and resilience. The benefits of art therapy in trauma processing are far-reaching. It can: * Facilitate communication: When words fail, art provides a voice for unspoken emotions. * Reduce stress and anxiety: The creative process itself can be cathartic, allowing individuals to release pent-up emotions. * Promote self-awareness: By creating art, individuals gain a better understanding of their inner world and emotional landscape. * Build coping skills: Art therapy can equip individuals with tools to manage difficult emotions and build resilience. * Foster social connection: Group art therapy sessions can create a sense of community and belonging for those who have experienced isolation or collective trauma. NGOs working with children and people with multiple or collective trauma are at the forefront of utilizing art therapy. These programs offer a beacon of hope for those struggling to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of conflict. Art therapy is not a magic bullet, but it is a powerful tool that can empower individuals and communities to heal, rebuild, and find solace in the face of immense adversity. As one NGO worker aptly said, "In a world shattered by violence, art therapy can be the bridge to a more hopeful future." #mentalhealth #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalwellness #healthcare #health #support #post #blog #Healing #colours #art #arttherapy #therapy #trauma #ngo #selfcare #selfawareness #PostViral #newpost #skills

The work of Carl Rogers is as relevant today for play therapy as it was back in the 1940s. His person-centred approach, foundational in therapeutic settings, including work with children is wonderful to read. Here are three core books... Rogers, C. R. (1942). Counseling and Psychotherapy: Newer Concepts in Practice. Houghton Mifflin. In this early work, Rogers introduces his approach to counselling and psychotherapy, laying the groundwork for his person-centred theory, which has been influential in various therapeutic practices, including play therapy. Rogers, C. R. (1951). Client-Centered Therapy: Its Current Practice, Implications, and Theory. Houghton Mifflin. This book expands on Rogers' client-centred approach, exploring therapeutic relationships and foundational techniques in play therapy, particularly his emphasis on empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. Rogers, C. R. (1961). On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy. Houghton Mifflin. In this influential text, Rogers outlines his theories of self-actualisation and the conditions necessary for therapeutic growth. These principles are often applied in play therapy to create a safe, non-judgmental space for children to express themselves. These references provide foundational insights into Rogers' person-centred approach, emphasising empathy, understanding, and the therapeutic relationship as central to effective therapy. #therapy #counselling #research

Community Engagement Professional in Arts and Culture | DEIA Advocate | Sustainability and Creativity
Many organizations are doing great work in their spaces and wishing more people would find them 👀 Businesses (including nonprofit) have outreach resources that individuals do not have. Individuals have value to add to businesses once they are engaged. Community arts IS engagement. Community partnerships reach people where they are, bringing services to them in a way that they can understand and that serves the individual first. This is in contrast to the expectation that individuals will find and understand the services available within an organization on their own (or through Google and other static marketing, which is important but not engaging). Go forth and engage! “….beyond the benefits offered by licensed art or music therapists, evidence also suggests that general arts engagement can help improve outcomes related to mental health and trauma recovery, such as social connection, self-efficacy, physiological functioning, and positive affect…. While it is not yet common to think of community arts organizations as portals to health and social care, trusted community entities (e.g., faith-based organizations, barbershops, hair salons) often partner with public health to provide crucial access points for screenings, education, and other health-promoting interventions. Many of these organizations are also trusted spaces that honor community culture and interests.”
Researchers Sujal Manohar and Tasha Golden write about the intersection of community, arts, and mental wellness.

Family Constellations combined with Sensorimotor Art Therapy 24 August 9.30am - 5pm (online) Combining plasticine and calling upon representatives in the group we are able to address feelings, behaviours, illnesses and family dynamics that we often find ourselves experiencing that despite all the counselling we can not change. These behaviours act as a symptom pointing to what needs to be seen and acknowledged in our ancestry. Once seen we can live our lives with a sense of freedom and support from our ancestors. Many of the problems we are experiencing in life and in our relationships are due to the fact that we carry the burden that one or more of our ancestors were unable to resolve at the time. Looking once again at what happened to those ancestors and giving now what could not be given then, can lead to resolution and lifting of the old burden. To bring about healing we use our natural ability to resonate with the feelings of others to “bring back“ momentarily those distressed or excluded ancestors, allowing them to “relive” and “resolve” their painful episodes, undoing the present family member’s entanglement with that ancestor. Developed by Bert Hellinger, Family Constellations evolved through setting up and observing constellations. He proposed that a ‘systemic conscience’, family soul or Orders of Love govern families and systems, supporting harmony, balance and growth in families or systems such as schools, organizations or communities. Conversely family constellations can identify any disruption in these orders of love creating imbalances or entanglements to the flow of love and support. This can appear as illness, relationship problems, emotional disturbances etc. This is a method of looking at the entanglements, lack of support, no-flow of love and disharmonies within a family and the effect that has on us, ie: depression, anger or illness etc, and restoring the gifts and support of our ancestors. Family Constellations are designed: * to strengthen your living in challenging times * to deepen your connection to life, the earth and all her elements * for individuals seeking constellations * relief from illness, repeating financial difficulties, relationship issues that keep repeating themselves and any behaviour that cannot be changed through normal counselling. Art therapy is not glorified art and craft making. It is a person-centre mental health profession integrating art making, creative processes, psychological theories and counselling to improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities. Art therapy draws from theoretical foundations across numerous disciplines. For example, psychology, neuroscience, attachment theory, child developmental theories, art material properties, couselling and more. Art therapy practices are supported by evidenced-based research. In Australia, an art therapist must have a master-level degree in art therapy (or equivalent creative therapy degrees), which includes 750 hours of clinical placement. The art therapy profession is governed by professional bodies such as ANZACATA, ACA and PACFA. #wellbeing #arttherapy #mentalhealth
