The #ShiftThePower Summit, organised by The Global Fund for Community Foundations, illuminated the vital conversation around shifting power – moving from outdated, top-down approaches to embracing the wisdom and leadership of local communities. As Marie-Rose Romain Murphy from the Haiti Community Foundation aptly highlighted, "Shifting power means recognising that local communities hold the solutions." It's clear that to enact real change, organisations must undergo a profound cultural and mindset shift, acknowledging and dismantling the power imbalances that have long dictated the sector. This transformation involves every individual questioning their use of power and committing to more equitable, empathetic partnerships. 🔴 Close to 5️⃣ 0️⃣ 0️⃣ million #children live in #slums and informal settlements worldwide. This number is expected to triple by 2050. Last year a new Global Action Plan- GAP, to accelerate transforming these informal settlements and slums, in line with SDG11, was introduced. But progress will not be made without urgent, immediate and significant funds and political commitments.
