How to contact hiring teams on LinkedIn 📩 Contacting recruiters on LinkedIn is not some silver bullet. Most won’t reply. But if you catch someone at the right time, it can help you jump the queue and get brought in for an interview sooner. Before you start sliding into DMs, there are some best practices to follow that will increase your odds of receiving a response. 1. Apply for the job first Don’t message the hiring team until you have applied online for the job. The recruiter is juggling multiple vacancies with multiple candidates. Don't give them any homework. Messaging recruiters and saying, "Can you help me find a job?" will get you nowhere. By applying online, the recruiter can quickly find you on their ATS (their hiring system), move you along the process, and set up the interview. 2. Format Keep your message brief. No long paragraphs. Succinct, direct, clear, and easy to read at a glance. 3. What to include in your message Include the job reference number or a link to the job you applied for. You're trying to remove as much friction as possible. You also want to include your credentials. Briefly discuss why you’re a good fit. Talk about the relevant problems you solve. Finish your message by adding a call to action. The goal here is to get the recruiter to schedule a screening call with you, so include your phone number. 4. Sample message template Use the below message template as a guide for contacting hiring teams on LinkedIn. Keep in mind that many others have access to this template, so don’t copy it word for word. Personalise it. Add your own chilli sauce to the mix. "Hi [First name], I applied for the [Job title] position. [Include the job reference number or a link to the job]. I have [Number] years of experience helping [Companies / Departments] do [Objectives related to the job description], which seems relevant for the [Job Title] position. I’m available for a chat this week if you’re free [First name]. [Your first name] [Your phone number]" 5. How to find hiring teams on LinkedIn Go to the company’s LinkedIn profile and then click the People tab. Send a connection request to employees with recruitment / talent acquisition job titles. Good luck.
I would also strongly recommend making a phone call! If you are a good match and the recruiter recognizes this (since you submitted your application beforehand), then you are guaranteed to be fast-tracked for the next steps.
Especially love the first point, always apply for the job first! 💯
Paddy Jobsman Love this mate, also give context around the conversations as well. Being a Neurodiverse folk, people messaging we should setup a zoom/g-meets without any information, makes no sense!
Love it, quality content
