The Non-Statutory Consultation for the Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region has launched. This generational project is the first major ‘new source’ water infrastructure in the region in the last 60 years. It will deliver a safe, secure, sustainable source of water supply necessary to support our growing population and economy, including the demand for housing. As part of the Consultation process, we’ll be hosting public information open days in key locations along the route in Tipperary, Offaly and Kildare, in addition to online webinars. The Consultation will run from 7 January until 4 March 2025. Check out https://lnkd.in/eaPVE2gr for more on the consultation events and webinars, and details on how to make a submission.

🚰 Transforming Water Services in New Zealand 🚰 The Local Government (Water Services) Bill is the third step in the Government's Local Water Done Well programme 🌊 The delivery model options for a local authority are: 💧 directly provide water services through a business unit or council-controlled organisations (CCOs); 💧establish a water organisation (a CCO or consumer trust); 💧 enter into a contract for the provision of water services on its behalf; 💧enter into joint venture organisations or other arrangements consistent with the bill. 💡The provision of water services is often a local authority’s most costly function and many outside the main cities are looking to combine with a neighbouring council to fund much needed water infrastructure. However, many local authorities remain divided over the way forward. 💡Our article provides more information on water service delivery models and decision-making pathways:

I’ve been working in or around this project in all it’s previous iterations- I’d say around 15 years or so. What I’ve never lost sight of is that we need an alternative supply for the Region that will allow us to build a water spine that has the potential to deal with what we need now and into the future. From an engineering perspective it’s a typical pipeline from the source to a reservoir, but the scale is much bigger than anything since the creation of Ardnacrusha. The water we aim to abstract is a small percentage of the water that the ESB abstract for energy generation and so should have a monimal impact on the environment. With this #consultation we want to hear from those who are potential impacted and any interested person on this iteration of the Project and there are a number of ways to get involved: - Six Public information days - via email/ phone/ online survey - Two public webinars - A virtual consultation room - Informarion is at the planning counters To find out more visit our website.

💧 Progress for New Mexico's water future 💧 The New Mexico Integrated Water Financing Plan builds on the state’s 50-Year Water Action Plan and Water Task Force report to secure and maximize federal funding for critical water initiatives. Through collaboration with tribal, state and federal agencies, the plan addresses barriers to accessing funds, develops innovative financing approaches and creates solutions that sustain New Mexico’s water resources. RCAC staff contributed expertise to help identify strategies for connecting resources and accelerating progress. This collaboration marks a critical step toward securing long-term water solutions for the state.

Over the next two years MI will be replacing 47.5 kilometres of aging open supply channels in the Griffith and Leeton area, with piped channels to increase the efficiency of water supply. We are undertaking this project in stages. If you are in an area where works are planned there is no need for you to do anything, an engagement officer will be in contact to discuss the works, and connection options. The Urban Channel Pipeline (UCP) Project is supported through $62.2 million in funding by the Australian Government, and is being delivered in partnership with the NSW Government under the Resilient Rivers Water Infrastructure Program. Thank you to those developer organisations that participated in our webinar workshop on Integrated Water Management Strategies (IWMS) last Wednesday. This was one of a series of workshops that are being held with different stakeholder groups. The purpose was to gain perspectives from stakeholders on their experiences through the development and implementation of IWMS. We explored who should lead on developing, implementing and raising awareness about integrated water management. We also discussed key challenges and enablers of integrated water management, and what additional support was needed for its implementation. There was lots of consensus in the virtual room and we look forward to sharing more detailed findings in due course.
