Christmas, Easter, and the PALFINGER Sports Car Ride! ❤️ We just celebrated our 20th annual “PALFINGER Sports Car Ride,” an event that is one of the highlights of our year. We had the pleasure of welcoming Salzburger Kinderkrebshilfe (Salzburg Children’s Cancer Aid) at our headquarters for a day filled with joy and excitement. The agenda was jam-packed with action, fun, and fast cars! Children and families from Salzburger Kinderkrebshilfe got to participate in various activities – including a children’s driving school, a climbing tower, a bouncy castle, and more. The day’s highlight was a thrilling ride to the FANTASIANA theme park in a sports car of their choice. At PALFINGER, we are deeply committed to supporting this meaningful cause, through both the event and our financial contributions. For more details, check out our latest article featuring interviews with the chairwomen of Salzburger Kinderkrebshilfe. They beautifully summed up the day: “For many of our kids, the Sports Car Ride is as special as Easter and Christmas.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eagMy8gf hashtag #palfinger hashtag #palfingerag

Blodomloppet: Running for Life and Wellbeing! We are incredibly proud of our colleagues who participated in this year's "Blodomloppet" in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 10. This exercise event, which gathered thousands of participants, saw representation from our colleagues across Sweden, Finland, and continental Europe. This demonstrates our strong community and our commitment to making a difference together, regardless of geographical boundaries - "The BIM Way of Working." Participating in Blodomloppet was not only an opportunity to promote health and well-being but also a chance to contribute to an important cause. Through our participation, we support blood donation, a life-saving effort that touches many people's lives every day. At BIM Kemi, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of well-being and community spirit. We encourage our employees to engage in activities that enhance their health and contribute to society. Events like Blodomloppet are perfect examples of how we can achieve this together. We look forward to continuing to participate in such initiatives and supporting important societal issues, both locally and internationally, while recharging our BIM Spirit batteries together. Together, let's continue to run for life and well-being! #bimkemi #EmployeeWellbeing #BIMSpirit #CorporateResponsibility #blodomloppet **About Blodomloppet: Over 30 Years in the Service of Blood Donation** Blodomloppet is an exercise race with over 100,000 participants, organized in 18 locations around Sweden. Whether walking, jogging, or running 5 or 10 kilometers with friends and workmates, the aim is to draw attention to the vital importance of blood donation and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Since the start in 1993, Blodomloppet has grown from two races with about a thousand participants to Sweden's largest recreational race with over 110,000 participants at its peak. The founders believed, “The future blood donors are among the exercisers. We will start a race and call it Blodomloppet.” In 2024, there will be at least 25 races in 24 cities.

I recently had the honour of meeting paralympic gold and silver medalist Tanja Scholz. Hearing her story, how she managed to come back after a devastating horse riding accident, is just inspiring. However some of the challenges she had to overcome are just to familiar. When it comes to the integration of the disabled and handicapped, to often warm words are not followed up in actions at best. When obstacles should be removed, new ones are created instead. How many of us can be really sure not to loose their job after such a lifechanging event? But what saddens me more is that an athlete, who not only represented my country in one of, if not the, biggest event in sport, but also came home decorated with gold and silver medals, has to struggle for funding. Hearing that some of the funding cannot be paid for the last two months of the year because there wasn't enough money in the pot to start with, in my eyes is a disgrace for a country as economically strong as Germany. If I see athletes like Tanja Scholz, I do see role models in more than just sport. It takes dedication, hard work and a lot of sweat and pain to get to the top, as does picking oneself up after being thrown from an active life into a wheelchair. The following links are in German, but if you would like to learn more about Tanja Scholz, there is a brilliant Podcast from regional radio outlet RSH: https://lnkd.in/dxbTd7DG There is also some information regarding the funding issues from regional broadcaster NDR: https://lnkd.in/dqAA4TMr #olympics #paralympics #goforgold #athletes #sportfunding #inspiration #disablity #integration

Are we empowering people living with persistent pain to find (or develop) the support they need - beyond ourselves, as healthcare professionals? Because this is what it's going to take in order to make and sustain the lifestyle changes that lead to a life beyond pain. But how can we guide them to pick the partner/s they need? I like to use the illustration of the three-legged races we had as children to give pointers for picking a partner. Did you ever participate in one of these? You are paired up with another participant and stand side-by-side with your arms around each other’s waists. Then the one runner’s left leg is tied (often with an old pair of nylon pantyhose!) tightly to the other’s right leg. This creates a kind of two-headed, three-legged monster! The starting whistle sets off a hilarious race to be the first pair to cross (or fall over) the finish line. Believe me, coordinating a two-headed, three-legged monster is not easy! What I learned from these races was that the winning teams were those who: 1. Picked a partner their own ‘size’ - this might mean choosing someone with similar needs, challenges and/or goals. Or just sharing a similar lifestyle or even neighbourhood. 2. Supported each other - This is not about sympathising and protecting each other from discomfort (so that you’re discouraged from doing things); nor is it driving each other to do too much under pressure from imposed agendas. It is a mutual support of the commitment to change. 3. Stayed in step with one another - with a graded plan of change where you start low and increase the changes or challenges slowly. These kinds of partnerships may happen organically but often they need to be developed by the person living with pain through education of those around them and assertively expressing their needs.

#Wimbledon #OneEveryDay Starting next year, Wimbledon, the prestigious tennis tournament known for its rich heritage, is considering a significant technological leap: replacing line judges with AI. For over a century, Wimbledon's charm has been defined by its traditions, from the blue Ralph Lauren blazers of the line judges to the historical courts - elements that draw half a million visitors each year. However, balancing this treasured heritage with modern innovations is crucial. While other grand slams have adopted AI for ball tracking, Wimbledon has held back. The introduction of AI-powered commentary this year signals a shift. Tournament Director Baker notes, “Our challenge is to ensure that technological changes enhance the tournament without eroding the heritage that makes Wimbledon special.” As we look to the future, it's exciting to see how Wimbledon will blend tradition with innovation, preserving the sport's essence while embracing the AI revolution. And I wonder, can even the cherished heritage of Wimbledon withstand the pressure of AI and technological innovation? #Wimbledon #TennisHeritage #AIRevolution #InnovationInSports (Credit: The Guardian, 2024)
