From 1 to 100, how much deals should Syndicates do in a year? There is no right or wrong answer—it's a balance between diversification and curation. A range of 4 to 12 a year is a reasonable range imo. You want to be active enough so LPs don't forget you exits BUT... Not pushing out a deal every week so Investors feel overwhelmed and start ignoring your dealflow. There are a few guiding principles I stick to: 1️⃣ LP Trust: The currency of Investors is TRUST, not $$$. You can't see investors as walking ATMs. Flooding them with deals risks eroding that trust. Bombarding LPs with deals every week causes LPs to delay decision making or switch off entirely. 2️⃣ Volume with Scale: As you scale your LP network, you can ramp up deal volume. That's how other (credible) Syndicates do dozens of deals a year. You can segment LPs into different verticals or geos and serve them with different sets of deals. My 1300 LPs opt into deals from US, Europe or Asia and only see startups from those geos. That means I can do 18 - 24 deals a year. Scaling up your deal flow is possible —but do it wisely. 3️⃣ GREAT Diligence: DD isn't just about improving my skill as an investor. I've learnt that great diligence also helps with closing capital! 95% of the time, our deal memos are insightful enough that investors pull the trigger on their own. That's crucial to operating at scale—it's not possible to educate LPs individually on every deal. Our Syndicate’s Approach -> 6-8 chosen deals each year. That’s it. Keep your investors focused, ensures each deal gets attention, build long-term trust with LPs. 🟢 Bottom line: The currency of investors is trust. Ready to build your angel Syndicate? We are very pleased to announce that two new investors have joined our investor base with a combined investment worth approximately £70 million* and that our valuation has nearly doubled to £550 million, only two years after our Series D. We welcome Apis Global Growth Fund III SCSp, the lead investor in the transaction, managed by Apis Partners - a prominent investor in high-growth, impactful global financial services and technology businesses. Amundi - Europe’s leading asset manager - also joins who will be represented by our existing investor Breega (in which Amundi is an investor). Together, both investors will play an important role in accelerating the next phase of development and growth for Moneybox. The transaction will mainly be facilitated through a secondary share sale, with existing investors selling 10-15% of the current share capital. However, it won’t just be institutional investors who have the ability to sell. We’ve enabled the rest of our shareholder community, including eligible employees, Crowd investors and customer (Reward Shares) shareholders - around 35,000 people - the opportunity to participate and sell 10% of their shareholdings. We’re delighted to be able to facilitate this and recognise the hard work of our team and our investors, many of whom have supported us since inception, to realise some of the value of their investment and benefit from the company’s strong growth trajectory. This transaction highlights Moneybox's strong market position, having achieved our first full year of profitability over a year ago and recently surpassing £10 billion in AUA. In the last fiscal year alone, we’ve successfully scaled revenues by 168% and AUA per customer by 46%.
