**TIP to Recruiters/Hiring Managers (FROM a Recruiter) - Just a reminder to be respectful to the person on the other end of the phone that is making time to speak with you regarding an opportunity that YOU reached out to them about. We are professionals and one thing I take pride in as a HR/TA professional is my follow up with candidates throughout the interview process. The application process can be stressful and time-consuming; it is best practice to at least send one follow-up email to eliminate the uncertainty that comes with applying for jobs. Unfortunately, due to a company layoff, I AM currently the other person on the other end of the phone. Your reputation is a significant part of your company brand, and the interview process helps shape your brand image. It is very disturbing to experience what I have during my search for a new opportunity. While I understand it is impossible to respond to every single application and candidate, it is best practice to keep the ones you have in process engaged and informed throughout the hiring process. This is a very tough and discouraging market right now and that extra step makes a difference. 😊
