Travelling at faster speeds means it will take you longer to stop in the event of a hazard appearing ahead. Driving at speeds of 20 mph compared to 30 mph almost halves your total stopping distance, giving you more time to react and avoid a collision. Brake, the road safety charity is calling for the government to reduce speed limits to 20mph in built-up areas to protect our communities and ensure we are doing all we can to keep people safe. #RoadSafetyWeek is Brake’s biggest road safety campaign, with thousands getting involved each year to make our roads a safer place.
