Emergency physicians often treat children whose medications are delayed due to prior authorization processes. 3. Parents may seek emergency care to bypass prior authorization hurdles. 4. A significant percentage of physicians report that prior authorization increases healthcare resource utilization and delays necessary care. 5. Prior authorization can lead to patients abandoning recommended treatment plans and may cause serious adverse events. 6. Insurers do not adequately consider the unique needs of pediatric patients in their prior authorization processes. 7. Pediatricians face challenges with medication shortages and coverage limitations that complicate patient care. 8. Physicians are encouraged to advocate for legislative changes to improve prior authorization practices.
