I often drive out of Hoult’s Yard and see what, from the outside, looks like a graveyard of Range Rovers and Defenders and all these manner of amazing 4x4s. It wasn’t until recently when I managed to shoot for them, when they took on one of Nicola’s Kickstarters I believe, and it was to go in and see the business and take some pictures of the guys working. Looking behind the doors, all of those cars to be fixed; it’s amazing! I only ever take my car to get serviced, I don’t take it to get fixed, like some of these are because as you know, proper 4x4s go offroad and stuff and have modifications to get them even more off road, and they are just really cool to see. I’ve got a couple of friends that have done it for years and to see some of the vehicles that they’ve ended up, with their significantly higher wheel bases and to be able to go into even deeper and more crazy places, has just been great. So, to see a bit more about the business and just to see them digging around in the bottom of these, anything from the old Discos, all the way through to some really arcane things that I was looking at, I don’t even know what it is/was! Cracking, cracking stuff. Seeing them take on these challenges and also taking on new staff, just to grow things a bit more is great. Just to see businesses working in a way to grow that isn’t by throwing loads and loads of money at it to get loads and loads of staff in, but growing organically and growing when the need dictates, is great to see. It’s certainly the methodology that I’ve used for my business, is to grow at my pace, not what the world’s expectations are, you know? #businessgrowth #northeastbusiness #houltsyard

Happy Wednesday! Let's start your day off with some fun facts about "trucking”! 🚛 🟢 The history of semi-trucks dates back to the late 19th century. In 1898, a Scottish-American engineer named Alexander Winton invented the first semi-truck. This vehicle was used to transport Winton's company's cars and was a significant improvement over the horse-drawn wagons that were used at the time. 🟢 Truckers Spend 240+ nights away from families each year. Think about all the special moments truckers miss: First baby steps, first field goals, graduations, and of course, major U.S. holidays. (This is why you should thank a trucker.) 🟢 Trucks need about 40 percent more stopping time compared to a car – that means they need about three football fields of room to come to a complete stop at highway speeds. 🟢 1 out of every 14 jobs in the US is created or directly affected by the trucking industry. 🟢 The number of truckers in the U.S. is around 3.5 million.
