More than once, I've been told that I need to create shorter versions of my Monthly Market Monologues. Given the importance of what I'm seeing in the change in data, I figured I'd try to take a stab at making a version that is easier to digest. Our World in Data: Because of the immense power that technology gives those who control it, there is little that is as important as the question of which technologies get developed during our lifetimes. Therefore it would be a mistake to leave the question about the future of technology to the technologists. Which technologies are controlled by whom is one of the most important political questions of our time.

This overview of the history and future of technology serves as a reminder of how important it is for us to continue the study of humanities. It will be important for those who will discuss ethics to keep track of the events that inspired and motivated the development of technologies as much as the innovation itself.
