Another reason why we need personalized treatment for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's! Among our patients, depression ranks as one of the top three symptoms of these conditions. In fact, 60% of those with hypothyroidism experience some form of anxiety and depression. Recent research underscores this connection, revealing significant findings about the relationship between Major Depression Disorder and thyroid diseases. The study highlights a strong causal association between Major Depression Disorder and hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis in individuals of European ancestry. However, this association was not found in individuals of East Asian ancestry. https://lnkd.in/e4zq2NT4

Let’s Talk About #Obesity And… #Insulin #Multimorbidities! 🌍🔍 Did you know? #WorldObesityDay is here! Check out these key facts about obesity worldwide and its projected increase in the coming years. 📈 Dysregulation of insulin signaling has been implicated in multimorbidity across the lifespan. It affects somatic diseases including type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and #obesity. New research shows that altered insulin signaling also affects brain-based diseases. This includes neurodegenerative brain disorders (dementia and Alzheimer’s disease) and compulsivity-linked neurodevelopmental disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism spectrum disorders). In PRIME, we posit that insulin-related disease has widespread effects on other, comorbid somatic and mental diseases throughout an individual’s lifetime. Thus, the identification of insulin-related comorbidity early in life may have important implications for monitoring and treatment decisions both early and later in life. The current International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3) divides migraine into two major types: migraine without aura and migraine with aura. Migraine without aura – formerly also known as common migraine or hemicrania simplex – is described in the ICHD-3 as a recurrent headache disorder which manifests in attacks that last 4-72 hours. Migraine with aura is described as characterized by transient focal neurological symptoms that typically precede or sometimes accompany the headache. Typical characteristics of migraine headache are: -Unilateral location -Pulsating quality -Moderate or severe intensity -Aggravation by routine physical activity -Associated with nausea -Photophobia and/or phonophobia. ~Migraine is one of the common causes of recurrent headache. According to IHS, Migraine constitutes16% of the primary headache and affects 10-20% of the general population. As we know that the attack of Migraine is mostly unbearable and unpredictable. During attack of Migraine, patients generally prefer to consume any popular modern painkillers available in the market or prescribed by the doctor, consuming the same may cause various serious side effects. Let’s raise awareness about migraine and support those affected! 💡🌟 Idea to share by Ajay Samuel,Ethical Edufabrica Pvt. Ltd

“It has long been described that, in some cases, the cause of excessive belching is not due to the gastric belching mechanism, but is instead caused by a rapid process of air entry by ‘sucking’ or ‘pushing’ air from the mouth or pharynx into the esophagus and then expelling it with abdominal straining. This process can now be easily observed using intra-esophageal impedance, and has been termed supragastric belching (SGB) since the gas does not originate from the stomach, and indeed frequently does not involve gas entry into the stomach. Patients with SGB often complain of excessive belching with a severe impact on quality of life, and belching can occur hundreds of times per day. SGB is considered to be a behavioral disorder, and in some cases a response to an unpleasant sensation originating from the esophagus or the abdomen. It may be initially performed consciously but at consultation the patient usually has no control over the symptom.” Source: Koukias, N., Woodland, P., Yazaki, E., & Sifrim, D. (2015). What is Baló disease? Baló’s concentric sclerosis (BCS) is a rare disorder usually considered a variant of multiple sclerosis (MS). However, its correlation with MS remains unclear and controversial. Balo’s disease is a demyelinating (damage to the nerve sheath) disorder of the central nervous system in which the myelin (the fatty substance covering nerve fibers) is damaged. It is characterized by a severe, rapidly evolving clinical course, and by unusual nervous system changes. Often large tumor-like plaques (lesions) that are found to destroy the sheath of the nerve are present. Studies indicate that autoimmune factors may play a role in its development. Autoimmune disorders are caused when the body’s natural defenses against “foreign” or invading organisms begin to attack healthy tissue for unknown reasons resulting in inflammation (swelling). Balo’s disease appears to be most common in Asians and in people from the Philippines; it affects males and females with similar frequency. Balo’s disease usually appears in adulthood but childhood cases have been reported.

The effect of the physical and psychological burden of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) on patients’ daily lives is underestimated, according to a study conducted in a group of Tunisian patients. According to the study authors, which was published in the Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders Journal, this effect “should be considered in the early management of NMOSD patients.” To explore the effect of NMOSD on patients’ quality of life, a team of researchers conducted a crosssectional study in 43 patients with the disease. Parkinson's disease is a complex neurological disorder that affects millions worldwide. The primary cause of Parkinson’s is the loss of nerve cells in a part of the brain called the substantia nigra. 🧠 These nerve cells are responsible for producing dopamine, a chemical messenger that plays a crucial role in controlling and coordinating body movements. When these cells die or become damaged, dopamine levels in the brain decrease, leading to the motor symptoms associated with Parkinson’s, such as tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia (slowed movement). While the exact cause of the condition remains unknown, ongoing research has shed light on several factors that may contribute to its development. ➡️ Genetic Predisposition Family History: A family history of Parkinson's can increase your risk. Genetic Mutations: Specific genetic mutations have been identified as risk factors for Parkinson's. ➡️ Environmental Factors Exposure to Toxins: Exposure to certain pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals may increase the risk. Head Injury: Traumatic brain injuries have been linked to an increased risk of Parkinson's. ➡️ Other Factors Age: The risk of Parkinson's increases with age. Gender: Men are slightly more likely to develop Parkinson's than women. Parkinson’s is a multifaceted disorder influenced by an interplay of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. While scientists continue to unravel the complexities of these interactions, ongoing research is critical to developing better prevention strategies and treatments for this challenging condition. If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms of Parkinson’s, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and to discuss potential treatment options. Early intervention can make a significant difference in managing the disease and improving the quality of life. #parkinsonschallenges #parkinsonscauses #dopamine #parkinsonsneuron #LightForPD #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsons #parkinsonsawareness #parkinsondisease #parkinsonsdiseaseawareness #parkinsonawareness #caregiver #goodnews

A rare and fatal genetic disorder, marred with movement, cognitive and psychological conditions that worsen over time, Huntington’s disease (HD) typically begins around the ages of 30-40. The disease is diagnosed in 2.7 of 100k people globally. “Egypt, the most populous country in the Arab world, has the highest prevalence of Huntington’s disease;” two-times higher the occurrence (21 of every 100k) than those is Europe (10 per 100k). It’s estimated that 3 to 7 per 100k people with European ancestry are diagnosed with the disease, leaning to the concept that inherent cultural and genetic factors dominate its origin. Not only does the cannabis plant produce a wide range of phytocannabinoids that may help with movement disorders, these neuroactive chemicals connect with receptors that regulate cognitive and psychological disorders as well. Most of these cannabinoids work through receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which modulates neurotransmission involved in motor function, particularly within the basal ganglia. However, THC-A is a partial and selective PPARγ modulator and reveals powerful neuroprotective activity, especially for the treatment of HD. It may also prove to be beneficial in treating other neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases. Read more:https://lnkd.in/ej3t7F_Z #huntingtonsdisease #medicalcannabis
