🍷 Exciting Trends in Wine for 2024: The Rise of Neo-Négociants! 🌟 In the dynamic world of wine, a fascinating trend is set to emerge in 2024: the rise of the neo-négociants. But what exactly does this mean? Well, a négociant typically refers to a wine producer who doesn't grow their own grapes but sources them from various skilled winemakers. However, the neo-négociant takes it a step further – mastering both the art of winemaking and the savvy of a merchant, offering a diverse selection of terroirs to choose from. As this trend gains momentum, you may start seeing the code "RM" (Récoltant Manipulant) more frequently on wine bottles. But what does this code signify? These seemingly small letters hold significant importance, indicating whether the wine is an anonymous commercial blend, a bottling from a winegrowers' cooperative, or a personal producer's creation. For wine enthusiasts, understanding this distinction adds depth to their appreciation, as it reflects the wine's origin and quality. Now, we're curious – do you always pay attention to the RM code when selecting wines? 🍇 Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! #NeoNégociants #WineTrends2024 #RMCode #WineEnthusiasts #PalTank

Adaptive Strategy for Georgian wine. A few years ago, I was asked to create the wine strategy for Georgia, the world's oldest wine-making nation. Georgia has 8,000 years of continuous vintage. The Qvevri wine-making method is still used today to make some of the world's most delicious and unique wines. We applied our adaptive strategy method to help the industry shift from relying on the Russian market, which prefers lower-quality, sweet wine, to focusing on high-quality wine for a more profitable and discerning Western market. The New Zealand experience in taking on the world with low volumes of high-quality wine was seen as an example to follow. As described in this recent The New York Times article, Georgia must overcome some major political and economic challenges to bring their amazing wine to the world, but there are signs of success. https://lnkd.in/gAzgni7P

Patience and a long-term approach are key when it comes to fine wine investing. Older vintages remain at the forefront of the fine wine market as seen in the top-performing wines this year. A wine from the 2013 vintage led the price performance category, rising over 80% year-to-date, in stark contrast to the overall market mood.
