Even MORE proof of how important your reel and submission videos are. If you’ve not been successful at booking jobs this way, you’ve got two options: 1 - Keep doing the same thing and hoping for a different result 2 - Do what casting directors and creative teams say to do (after all, they’re the ones making the hiring decisions) I’ve put all of these do’s and don’ts together in a downloadable guide for you, along with an outline of what sections your reel needs and in what order they should be in. The guide is called Reels That Seal the Deal and it covers acting, vocal, dance, and choreo reels. 📲 Just go to JimCooney.me/reel-guide to grab a copy!

🎬✨ Ready to make a stellar impression with your next job application? Casting directors are on the lookout for the perfect fit, but this looks different for each company, show, etc. BUT! You can prepare by having these materials on hand: 1️⃣ Different length bios: Short & snappy to detailed and in-depth. Think social media caption to program bio 2️⃣ Album of photos: From studio headshots to live performance shots. Feature those costumes and vibes! 3️⃣ Variety of footage: Sizzle reels, demos, full acts, and even improv/training reels. Probably the most involved, but will save your future self SO much time when it comes to quick submissions. 4️⃣ CV/Resume: Tailored to each application, and even to each act or discipline! Keep it to one page if possible and play with linking videos and social media into the text. Good luck! Also... you can use StageLyncPro to help organize all of this for you :) Sign up for free at stagelync.com/sign 🔥 #stagelync #performingarts #castingcall

Once they see the camera, they freeze up. Oh, the horror! 🥶😱 Whenever I’m doing a video interview, this is often the case with my interviewees. They get nervous when it´s time for the shoot. It kills the vibe and affects the final result. Many B2B companies are moving into video. It´s a great way to spread knowledge. Especially if you´re interviewing a happy customer. But your customers aren’t actors. Heck, they have probably never been in front of a camera besides their own selfies. During my 20+ years in journalism and marketing, I’ve done hundreds of interviews, photo shoots and video case stories. I’ve learnt the hard way how to make your interviewee perform his or her best. Here are my 5 tips to make your interviewee a top performer! 👉 ☑ If you’re not relaxed, your interviewee won’t either - take a breather and get in the game ☑ Get to know your interviewee I like to have a few talks with my interviewee well before the day of the shooting. Bonding and trust is calming. ☑ Do a dry-run Rehearsing your photo shoot or video interview (without visible camera) is a great way to work out kinks and boost confidence. ☑ Be present Make sure you’re there during the whole shoot. I like to stand beside the video photographer, make eye contact and be ready to guide and cue. ☑ Expect many retakes It can take time to nail it. In my experience, the final takes are usually the best, as your interviewee is beginning to get the hang of things. PS. Behind me in the pic is one of my fave video photographers I've worked with, Andrew Clelland #contentproduction #casestory #interview #contentmarketing #videoshoot #marketingtips #contentproductiontips

Not everyone can be an awesome director. What it takes, above anything else is a way with words. (Hey, it's always to have something to work on!) It helps massively to work with people who have a great sense of humour. Julie Sinsbury of has that in bundles. A pleasure to work with. This is a quick outtake showing off Julie's sense of humour from some upcoming films I am making for Redinet Limited who are an IT services company based in South London. I'm going around the country with James M. and Mike Beeson filming testimonial interviews with their customers. Mo(o)re to come! I always find testimonial videos to be the most powerful and persuasive type of videos I make purely because of the social proof they provide. There is nothing like a customer saying something awesome about your business. But the key is to capture it with honesty and sincerity. Sometimes a bit of humour on set can bring that out. Having that social proof on video allows your future clients to step into your customers shoes for a moment and understand why they need you. #videography #testimonials #corporatevideo #outtakes #bloopers

So, I thought about the post I made the other day. I don't think I was wrong to post that as many people shared the same sentiments about the situation mainly due to the job marketing being extremely brutal now and how it seems like only referrals that are nepotism-based seem to actually guarantee hires nowadays. So, if even a referral doesn't take me far, what should I do? Well, one thing is to make myself more presentable. My resumé and cover letters are fine and I see no reason to dramatically change them now. However, my blog/portfolio website could use some work. I first created it using the tools that were available to me a few years ago, so now's a good time for an upgrade. I reworked it yesterday to see what might work and I think I came up with a result I'm satisfied with. There are a few things I could improve with it being built on Wix for free and all (that and I'm a marketer, not an engineer), but I think it still gets the point across while making it fit the style of 2024. So please, take some time to check it out when you can. Writing on the blog has been on indefinite hiatus due to grad school (before I graduated last month) and job hunting, but I would like to pick it up again soon to add to my portfolio: https://lnkd.in/dCTgk9h #Portfolio #Blog #blogging #resume #coverletter #aboutme #update #rework #newandimproved #website #websitebuilder #Wix #wixwebsitedesign #wixwebsite #referrals #jobmarket #jobhunting #jobsearching #job #opentowork #openforwork
