In Panama and Costa Rica, PADF is investing in small business development and sustainable tourism to strengthen socioeconomic opportunities and social cohesion among migrant hosting communities. Recently, PADF and APTSO Panamá visited the Madroño Region in Panama to meet with entrepreneurs and agrotourism farm owners and explore projects that foster sustainable tourism in the area. 🌾🌿👩🌾 This project is possible thanks to the generous funding of the U.S. Department of State. #PADFMigration

The Queensland budget was handed down, with cost-of-living a major focus of spending. While QTIC welcomes investment in economic development and key infrastructure projects, the budget is unfortunately light on support measures for small business and tourism. It is pleasing however, to see confirmation of funding levels for Tourism and Events Queensland, increased funding for Growing Future Tourism Projects, additional funding for Bush Tourism, and release of funding for First Nations tourism. We're providing industry with an overview of the state budget from a tourism perspective 👉 https://ow.ly/HSgO50SgzUb #TourismMatters

On September 7, 2024, the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) reached a significant milestone—the 1st anniversary of the Indigenous Tourism Destination Fund (#ITDF). Launched in 2023, the ITDF is a tangible action towards fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action #92, which calls for economic reconciliation. As Canada approaches the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (#NDTR2024)on September 30, this anniversary highlights the importance of creating lasting economic opportunities for the Indigenous tourism industry, ensuring they share in the long-term benefits of tourism across their lands. This fund, administered by ITAC, reflects the growing commitment to reconciliation through partnerships. While 15 non-Indigenous businesses have signed on to support the ITDF, ITAC’s goal was to include 100 non-Indigenous ITDF partners in its inaugural year. Together, we can support the growth of Indigenous tourism, create meaningful cultural experiences, and empower Indigenous communities across Canada. The 1930s were particularly relevant in the consolidation of the province of Mendoza as a tourist destination in the center-west of Argentina. The public policies implemented by the Conservative-Democratic governments gave a strong boost to tourism. The improvement of land communication routes was crucial in connecting the capital city with suburban and mountain destinations. In this context, the first transport companies and civil associations that promoted mechanized tourism played a fundamental role in linking Mendoza with other provinces and with Chile. This paper examines the public policies of the political cycle, the action of transport companies, the growth of the road network, the changes in the patterns of tourist consumption, and the social representations built around motorized vehicle trips. In January, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) reported on tourism’s economic impact on the country, which included more than 620,000 direct jobs and an estimated generation of foreign exchange of more than USD$11 billion. Figures also showed that the Dominican Republic is the country that has grown the most in tourist arrivals in the Caribbean region from 2019 to date, going from 6.4 million visitors to more than 10 million, and that it’s been recognized by various international organizations as the number one country in terms of post-COVID tourism recovery. A recent World Bank Country Climate and Development Report noted that achieving the Dominican Republic's ambitious climate and development objectives will require cross-cutting measures across multiple dimensions, including its significant tourism sector. The government, however, operates in a constrained environment, which results in a lack of fiscal space to simultaneously meet the need for social programs, environmental protection, and better infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/dT7RYZwH #domincanrepublic #development #climatechange #initiatives #impacts Juan Merino Patricia Suriel José Enrique Delmonte Kennedy Pemberton, MSc. The Dominican Republic is elevating its tourism industry with strategic investments exceeding 30,000 million pesos. 💪🏻 Samaná, among other regions, benefits from this financial boost, aiming to enhance its infrastructure and tourist appeal. 🧳🏝️ This investment not only uplifts Samaná's charm but also bolsters the Dominican Republic's status as a leading travel destination, showcasing the nation's commitment to developing its tourism sector. Additionally, the Dominican Association of Investment Fund Management Companies has reported that these investments have had a substantial impact on the tourism sector, generating 1,274 permanent direct jobs and over 3,000 indirect jobs through investments made last year. #DominicanRepublic #SamanaGrowth #TourismInvestment #StrategicDevelopment
