Our Support Center team is spreading HOPE one bracelet at a time!
In anticipation of #PandaCaresDay, our team crafted 230 bracelets along with inspiring messages for the amazing kids at the Boys & Girls Club of La Habra. This Thursday, we're thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of their Panda Cares Center of Hope!
Thank you to all who celebrated Panda Cares Day with us. We can't wait to continue the celebrations this month with many more events around the country.

🌍 **What is Community Service?** 🤝
Community service is more than just volunteering; it's about giving back, making a difference, and connecting with others to build a stronger, more compassionate society. Whether it's helping out at a local shelter, cleaning up a park, or mentoring a student, every act of service contributes to the greater good.
At its core, community service is about empathy, responsibility, and the shared belief that together, we can create positive change. 💪✨

⏩Teaching children kindness is crucial for fostering a compassionate and empathetic society. Here are important points to consider:🔽
⏩Model Kind Behavior: Children learn by observing adults. Demonstrate kindness in your daily interactions, whether through polite gestures, considerate words, or helping others.⏪
⏩Encourage Empathy: Help children understand and share the feelings of others. Discuss how others might feel in different situations and encourage them to think about how they would want to be treated.⏪
⏩Praise Kind Acts: Recognize and praise acts of kindness, no matter how small. Positive reinforcement encourages children to repeat these behaviors.⏪
⏩Teach Active Listening: Show children how to listen attentively and respond thoughtfully. This helps them understand others’ perspectives and fosters respectful communication.⏪
⏩Promote Inclusivity: Encourage children to include others and befriend those who might feel left out. This builds a sense of belonging and supports a diverse community.⏪
⏩Provide Opportunities for Volunteering: Involve children in community service or charitable activities. This helps them appreciate the impact of their actions on others and reinforces the value of helping those in need.🔽
I've had several people recently ask me how they can get involved with ACH Child & Family Services. I'm happy to share there are several ways!
Our mission is to protect kids and preserve families, specifically in foster care. We also do a ton of work in adoption, families experiencing domestic abuse, young adults aging out of foster care, free family counseling for the public, and more. In short, we have 15 different programs that offer a continuum of care.
Here's how you can get involved:
𝟏. 🙋𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲. Many of the children we serve are teenagers who have been deprived of quality time with adults who 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 want to hang out (they can tell the difference from someone is who is getting paid to spend time with them versus genuinely wanting to be there). We're here to fix that.
Activities are fun (think crafts, bowling, cooking, etc.) and are in a group setting. We do ask for a one-year commitment to ensure the kids have consistency with who is visiting. >> https://lnkd.in/gcxYmxHm
𝟐. 👫 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩. Want to make a difference with your company, organization or a group of friends? Sign up for Supper Club, Campus Cleanup, or another group project. We always need helping hands. >> https://lnkd.in/gSQwTb5F
𝟑.🤝 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲. "Women's Aux" is a great way to fight child abuse and neglect, protect families and raise awareness. This mission-driven group of women focuses on advocacy and service opportunities. >> https://lnkd.in/gTUd59e5
𝟒. 💰𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞! Money makes the world go 'round, and we can't possibly serve the kids and families in our area without funding. No amount is too small or too infrequent. We have a program called Hands-on Heroes for people who would like to contribute monthly, or you can donate a one-time gift.

This is spot-on. And love the recommendations:
1. If you are Mandated Reporter, offer support to families before you report.
2. Consider donating to or volunteering at local agencies that are helping families meet concrete needs.
3. Spread the word to colleagues, friends, and family members in your network on how they help keep families safely together too.
4. Consider how racism and bias show up in your practice and work to make a change.
#FamilySupport#BuildPositiveChildhoods
Historically the mainstream media has only chosen to report on the most horrific child atrocities leading the general public to only be exposed to a small fraction of what is really going on in #childwelfare. This phenomenon has led to many people having an inaccurate understanding of the system as well as the families who find themselves interacting with it.
Check out this great piece from Tiffany Meredith dispelling some of those common misperceptions.
She also offers great recommendations on how you can make an impact:
Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation would like to thank our good friend, Jonel for hosting a fundraiser in support of our Keys to Success program! For three years, she has combined her passion for fashion with her dedication to help young men and women aging out of foster care achieve self-sufficiency. Each June, Jonel holds a 30 Days of Dresses Instagram campaign in which she models a new dress and shoes each day and then asks her followers to vote for their favorite by donating to AFFCF. Since she began, Jonel has raised more than $1,200!
There are many ways in which you can help change the story of foster care for children and youth in Arizona! Here are just a few examples:
1. Hold a fundraiser of your own like Jonel or create a Facebook Fundraiser!
2. Volunteer your time and/or talents.
3. Designate AFFCF as the beneficiary of your Fry’s Community Rewards so every time you buy groceries, you support youth in foster care!
4. Invite us to speak at your company or small business.
5. Follow, like and share our social media posts on Facebook (AFFCF), Instagram (azffcf) and LinkedIn (AFFCF) to increase community awareness of our important work with kids in foster care.
The sky’s the limit on how you can get involved and we’re happy to help! Give us a call at 602.252.9445 to learn more.

"Sharing is caring! Do good for others, it will come back to you in unexpected ways":
Sharing is a fundamental human value that has the power to transform lives. When we share our time, resources, and talents with others, we create a ripple effect of kindness and compassion. By doing good for others, we not only improve their lives but also enrich our own. The act of sharing breaks down barriers, fosters empathy, and builds stronger, more supportive communities.
The beauty of sharing lies in its unpredictability. When we do good for others, we can't always anticipate how or when it will come back to us. But come back it will, in unexpected ways and at unexpected times. A simple act of kindness can inspire a chain reaction of generosity, touching hearts and lives in ways we may never even know. By sharing, we invest in the well-being of others and, in turn, create a world that is more caring, more compassionate, and more just.
So, let's embrace the power of sharing and make it a part of our daily lives! Let's share our smiles, our laughter, and our love with those around us. Let's volunteer our time, donate to worthy causes, and support those in need. And let's remember, sharing is caring! #SharingIsCaring#DoGood#PayltForward#KindnessMatters#CommunityFirst#ViralKindness
Looks like a FUN day out, right?!
Well, it definitely was BUT when you look a little deeper…
I regularly volunteer with CHUMS Charity and last week, we took a group of Young Carers (aged 11 - 17) to Thorpe Park and yesterday was the EVEN Younger Carers turn for a trip to Gulliver’s.
I had great days out - and the sun stayed out☀️ - it was exhausting but the Young Carers thoroughly enjoyed it - 38 for Thorpe Park and 24 for Gulliver’s.
BUT…
No one at Thorpe Park or Gulliver’s would have any clue what these young people go through - they look like ‘typical’ kids enjoying a trip to a theme park.
These are CHILDREN that have a caring role for a parent, brother or sister; they could be helping to care for someone with a disability, chronic or serious illness, mental health condition or learning difficulty.
For me; the days are exhausting - responsible for a group of Young Carers all let loose in a theme park, with no caring responsibilities for the day, each with different rides and attractions they had their eyes on…
BUT when I made it home, I could go straight to bed.
How many of those Young Carers could?
It’s easy to carry on in our own little world isn’t it?
It’s not always easy (or comfortable!) to consider just what others are going through…
💭No business-link to this post, just my rambling thoughts💭

😃Help us get kickstarted!
ALL OF FEBRUARY we’re trying to raise AT LEAST 20k to get kick started. You can give there! Big or small, every dollar counts! Here’s what we’re trying to get started with…
>> Getting resources to our young adults who have aged out. Food, hygiene products, basic household needs, furniture, gas cards etc…
>> Resources to foster families as needed.
>> The Crown Project… access hair care/ braids/protective styles for the black community in foster care and young adults who have aged out (52% of our kids in foster care in our kick off county are African American, more needs to be done for people of color who have specific needs). Also providing things like bonnets for kids in foster care.
>> Assistance with senior year things that are not covered by DCS... Like being able to get hair, nails and make up done for prom.
>> Provide new shoes and clothes as needed.
These are just a few things that we’re aiming to get kickstarted this year! Our ultimate goal is to have a building that’s serving as a place of help and community for kids, and young adults who are or have experienced the foster system, and the families and case workers who support them. Then we want to see this happen countrywide.
We’ve got big dreams!!!! We can’t wait to see them happen!!! These look like big goals for just us. But we know that as a community, if we all jump in, we can make this happen EASILY! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
