West Bengal - List of Senior Citizens Care Homes The 23 districts of West Bengal have about 55-65 Senior Citizens Care Homes which comes to 2.5 Elderly Care Home per district. Out of the 55 Care Homes, 25 are in Kolkata district itself, which is also evident from the visible elderly population in the City of Joy. In my personal research, West Bengal has a collective Assisted Living bed capacity of 3000 for an estimated Elderly population size of 12 million (1.2 crores), which comes to 1 bed for 4300 older persons. If one has to go by the National recommendations of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment then each district should have one Senior Citizens Care Home of 150 beds, which comes to 3450 beds for West Bengal. Sharing a list of Care Homes / Assisted Living / High Dependency Care Homes in West Bengal (55 Care Homes) for the benefit of the larger cause which was compiled last year. Since the database is my personal research hence it could and will have research errors, hence it is requested of everyone that incase of additions / deletion / corrections kindly share your feedback so that as concerned citizens we can develop a verified and open source database. Commendable compilation, Pankaj. I wish some organisation would take over or support you to collect all India data which will be all encompassing.
Pankaj, thank you for the data you collate sincerely and share🙏🏼
Very fruitful information indeed...
This list is pretty exhaustive. So technically WB aligns closely with the guidance of 150 beds per district under Senior Citizens Care home (3000 vs 3450). But then, guess 1 bed per 4300 older person is a glaring gap, which makes it critical for National guidelines to be looked into.
