Everything is fair in love, war, and also...resume! 📝 As early career professionals, we often feel the need to load our resumes with every skill we've ever touched upon, thinking it will yield more interview calls. However, this strategy can sometimes backfire. One early career person confessed that they received interview calls due to the many skills listed on their resume, only to get rejected because the interviewer saw a huge gap between what was written and the actual experience. It's important to remember that the skills you mention may just be a touch-and-go for you, but an everyday affair for the interviewer. So, be lean, be specific, and be sure. Don't let a lengthy resume overshadow your true potential. Keep it simple and highlight the skills that truly matter. Will you? #earlycareer #ecg #balemarthyvamsi

𝐃𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦? The short answer is no, not in the initial stages of your application. Most employers don’t require references until after the interview process, and including them can take up valuable space on your CV. A simple line like "References available upon request" is often sufficient. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬? Once you’ve impressed the employer and they request references, make sure you have 2-3 solid contacts ready. It’s important to: - Ask permission from your references ahead of time. - Choose individuals who can speak to your professional skills and character. #CVTips #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #ResumeWriting #References #JobHunt #ProfessionalGrowth #LinkedInTips #Resume #CV

This week's Career Specialist Tip is brought to you by Joyce Davis. "Resumes have changed so much over the years! Here are tips to help your resume standout: Don’t use templates! Update your Purdue education. Your experience should be kept to the last 10 years; you don’t want to date yourself. If you have over 10 years, mention it in the ‘Summary’ and discuss it during your interview. Keep your bullets to 6 or under and use action verbs; again, you can go into more detail in your interview. You no longer need references on your resume; keep a separate document with the information. Proofread and send your resume to your Career Specialist!" #PurdueGlobal #PurdueGlobalProud

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐚 𝐂𝐕 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫? Let’s clear up a common misconception: Your CV isn’t just a summary of your skills, experience, and qualifications. It has one purpose and one purpose only—𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰. Think about it: if your CV doesn’t land you an interview, it doesn’t matter how impressive it looks. No interview means no job. That’s the harsh truth. So, what are the four channels through which hiring managers find you? Your CV, your LinkedIn profile, your personal network, and your recruiters. These are the four fields where you need to stand out—where you need to be the tall poppy. If you’re serious about getting that next six-figure role, you need to get your CV right. Interview season is just around the corner!🗓️ If you're gearing up for your next big opportunity, I've got some awesome tips from TD recruiters to help you level up your resume game: 1. Quantify Achievements: Numbers speaker louder than words! Highlight your previous accomplishments with metrics to show the impact you've made 💯 2. Incorporate Key Words: Tailor your resume with keywords that match the job description to get noticed by applicant tracking systems 🔑 3. Keep it Clean and Easy to Read: Use a clear design and formatting so your resume is easy to skim 🧼 After landing that interview, something I like to personally do is take some time to dive into the company culture. Knowing their background will not only give you a better idea of the environment you will be working in, but can also help you ask insightful questions to stand out. *Pro Tip* A "thank you" email to your recruiter/manager goes a long way. Show your appreciation and leave a lasting impression. You've got this! 🎉 #TDCampus #TD #TDEarlyTalent
