Here is the Youtube link: https://lnkd.in/d4Xpb266 In this talk, I presented the most recent results we achieved in the field of #decentralized #control of multi-robot systems. Starting from the idea that exchange of information is crucial to achieve a common objective, I describe different methodologies that can be exploited. Information can be exchanged by mechanically coupling the robots with elastic links [1], thus exchanging forces. When this is not possible, communication is implemented through wireless channels, and connectivity of the network needs to be preserved as the robots move [2].  A problem can then appear is the presence of malicious/malfunctioning agents, that can not be trusted, and whose presence can prevent succesful collaboration. To solve this, I discuss how the presence of a sufficient number of communication links, and opportune filtering methods, can be used to render the multi-robot team resilient to this [3]. When explicit communication is not possible, sensing can be used for information exchange. However, common sensors are not omnidirectional, thus generating issues in keeping trace of the evolution of team-mates. To solve this, I discuss a probabilistic method that, exploting particle filters, leads to achieving collaboration in a communication-denied scenario [4]. Finally, building upon these concepts, I discuss how a collaborative team of robots can be used to explore an unknown environment, to gather information about some spatially-distributed phenomenon [5].
