And the how to contribute....
Big thank you to Healthcare Reinvention Collaborative for hosting yesterday’s magnificent sizzle reel watch party for No Country for Old People, a documentary that exposes the dysfunction of the nursing home industry. We are raising the funds to finish this grassroots film, 100% tax deductible through our fiscal sponsor National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care. 🎵 Name That Finish Line Tune 🎵 Firstly a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far on my London Marathon challenge and journey - I’m blown away by how well my page has raised to date🙏 Let’s see if we can make the two week lead in to taking on 26.2 miles around london a bit fun and bolster the money that can be raised for the brilliant GOSH. Right here we go: Specified Contracts Ltd https://lnkd.in/e3c2BRw5 have donated the latest I Pad to enable this little bit of fun to take place - a massive thank you to Specified for your kindness🫶 For a £10 sponsor and the choice of the song that you would like to add to a playlist that will be created for the entire run leading up to the day by all who take part, you could win the IPad. At the start line I will press the shuffle all button on the playlist and it will randomly play out the list. The proposed tune that is playing when I do the screen recording as I cross the finish line will win the I Pad. The average song is 3 minutes so we are looking for 20 songs per hour and I hope for no more than 5hrs:30mins. So that’s a total of 110 songs or participants proposing their songs - but if there’s more then that is fine so donate away and let see what we can do for GOSH. All you need to do is put your name in the below Enthuse link and where it says message, the name of your song (an i tunes link is even easier for me to add). Obviously if you want to leave any other good luck messages they all help ❤️. https://lnkd.in/g8yYsBAJ The full list will be published on the Saturday night before race day - be kind with the songs please🙏 For those that have already sponsored please DM with one song choice and it will be added to the playlist. One song per sponsor; not going to say no if you want to sponsor more than £10 - but that is the minimum to have a chance of winning the I Pad and hopefully keep each sponsor at an affordable level for all. First come first serve on the selected song; if you select a song that has been already selected I will choose an alternative for you and let you know the selected alternative . If the 110 songs are not all filled I will fill with my own tunes that I’d like to hear to get me over that line and down the last half mile or so - if it’s one of those songs I’m screen recording when I cross the line then I will donate it directly to GOSH or a known child patient in our community. Good luck and thank you in advance for your support 🙏

Catalyzing Post-Traumatic Growth & Equitable Systems I focus on creating restorative programs that spark post-traumatic growth for people and communities. My work centers on bridging divides to empower humans to thrive.
Food insecurity is a growing concern across Pinellas County. We are honored to work with Daystar Life Center, Inc. through our #projecttryton initiative. According to Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap 2020 study, which used data from 2018: Pinellas County: - Food insecurity rate: 12.2% (124,430 people) - Child food insecurity rate: 19.1% (38,080 children) Hillsborough County: - Food insecurity rate: 12.6% (178,820 people) - Child food insecurity rate: 19.5% (61,600 children) It's important to note that these numbers are from before the COVID-19 pandemic, which likely exacerbated food insecurity in these counties and across the United States. Feeding America projected that the overall food insecurity rate for the United States could have reached up to 15.6% in 2020 due to the economic impact of the pandemic. #endhunger

How Will You Honor Orange Shirt Day? Orange Shirt Day is only two weeks away, and the countdown is on! 🧡 It’s more than just a day to wear orange—it’s a powerful reminder of the impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities and an opportunity for all of us to take part in the journey of healing and reconciliation. Whether you're an individual supporter or part of a company that wants to make a difference, there are meaningful ways you can get involved. Here are a few ways to participate and honor the day: 👕 Wear your Old's Cool x AHF orange shirt: to spark conversations and show visible support for the survivors of residential schools. It’s not just a shirt, it’s a statement. Every shirt sold helps fund Indigenous health programs, making a real impact in the lives of those who need it most. 🧡 Attend local events: focused on learning and reflection. Whether it’s an educational webinar, a community walk, or a storytelling session with Indigenous Elders, these events provide a space for you to listen, learn, and reflect on the legacy of residential schools. 📖 Educate yourself and others about Truth and Reconciliation. Share what you learn with friends, family, and coworkers. Start conversations that challenge assumptions, promote understanding, and inspire action toward reconciliation. Knowledge is a powerful tool for change. With only two weeks left, now is the perfect time to start planning how you’ll honor the day. Every step toward awareness, understanding, and healing contributes to a brighter future for all of us. Take action today and be part of the movement toward reconciliation and healing for Indigenous communities. Check out this link to purchase your orange shirt today! https://lnkd.in/eHFa6FPF Let’s make every moment count as we move toward Orange Shirt Day. Together, we can make a difference. 🧡 #OrangeShirtDay #OldsCool #TruthAndReconciliation #SupportIndigenousHealth #EveryChildMatters #BeTheChange

Not only does Feed the Children help children around the world, but they are headquartered right here in OKC making an impact locally, nationally, and globally. I loved getting to attend the grand opening of the FEED's Partner Market! This new program is based out of our distribution center in Oklahoma City where local partner organizations can shop for the products they need - whether that be food, cleaning items, hygiene, and even books. Did you know that 15% of people live below the poverty line right here in Oklahoma City? With the Partner Market, FEED is working to create measurable, sustained impact, and create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. https://lnkd.in/dpg2Jc35
Feed the Children is proud to announce the grand opening of our OKC Partner Market this past week! This pilot program will allow our local partner organizations to self-select the resources they need for their own communities from our distribution center. “Our local community partners don’t have the ability to store pallets of food, but they need a variety that’s right for their community. So we’ve opened our Partner Market, giving them the ability to select foods and essential items that SNAP benefits don’t cover: things like detergent and shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes," said Julie Laird Davis, Sr. Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Individual Giving. Thank you to our partners Oklahoma City Indian Clinic, Sisu Youth Services, the OK City Center, Light and Salvation Church, and Pivot for attending the launch!

Light is incorporated into recognitions, commemorations, and celebrations worldwide, from memorial services to birthday candles and celebrations. One activity in many of our groups and programs during this time of year is Luminary Making, where kids and teens can create a lantern to share memories, feelings, and hopes. We encourage kids and teens to think about where they might want to keep this at home and remind them they can turn their lanterns on at any time of year to remember the person who died, share memories, feelings, and hopes, or be a reminder for self-care. Discover more about how luminaries represent something unique and can be a reminder of many different things. https://ow.ly/6ARO50Qpcm9

If I had my own holiday, what would it be called? What would we celebrate? These questions, which we include each of our Care Kits, are designed to help you reflect and connect on deeper levels. Perfect for solo contemplation or sharing with your chosen family. With your chosen family it can be fun to all answer the same question and learn the ways you are alike and different. Share this question on a car ride or during a meal and you might just learn something new about the people you spend most time with! Learn more about our care kits here: https://lnkd.in/ga6eQV5U
