🎉 Exciting News! Our research paper on 'Employee Stock Options: Realization, Taxation, and Prospects in Lithuania' has just been published in the latest issue of 'Legal Science Spring 2023'! Collaborating with Luka Tamulionytė, my esteemed colleague and course mate, has been an incredible journey. It was a pleasure to work with such a great person; Luka made the process easy and enjoyable. Together, as colleagues and fellow students, we've delved deep into the world of employee stock options, uncovering fascinating insights along the way. 📚✨ Our paper takes a deep dive into the intricate world of employee stock options, unraveling how these options function, their tax implications, and forecasting what lies ahead. We dissect the mechanisms behind these options, shedding light on their operational aspects and how they intersect with tax regulations. Interestingly, the recent Supreme Court ruling (case number: e3K-3-27-381/2023) closely echoed several key points we painstakingly examined in our research. 🏛️ Alongside it, fresh case law (case number: e3K-3-189-781/2023) has surfaced, shining a light on more aspects of stock options. These new insights show that this field is ever-changing. They hint at a bigger picture that we're still exploring. This means there's more ground to cover. Our study lays a foundation, but there's still more to uncover. Further research is essential to fully grasp these recent legal changes and their impact on stock options. 📝🔍 A huge thanks go out to Dr. Martynas Endrijaitis, our academic guide, and practical mentors Gerda Skirbutienė and Mindaugas Baniulis for their invaluable support in navigating this intricate subject!

Between the halls of the Université Nice-Sofia-Antipolis in Nice and the complex dynamics of international law, my life is split between being a lawyer and a professor. At the Master II in European Economic Law, I have the pleasure of sharing my passion and experience with a new generation of jurists. Teaching is not just about transmitting knowledge, but it’s a continuous dialogue, where every question sparks deep reflection, and every lesson turns into an opportunity for mutual growth. Seeing that spark of curiosity and determination in the students’ eyes reminds me why I love this job. Law is not just a set of rules, but a tool for building a better future. My experience as a #lawyer is enriched every day by these moments, creating a bridge between theory and practice, between university classrooms and courtrooms. Sharing this passion with the Université de la Côte d’Azur is a privilege that makes my profession even more rewarding. Together, we’re not just training future lawyers, but conscious citizens, ready to face the challenges of our interconnected world. ➖ Follow me on my brand new Instagram profile for more https://lnkd.in/eEwVEWQm

Antitrust Partner ■ HAVEL & PARTNERS ■ The largest independent law firm in the CEE ■ Global Elite Thought Leader (WWL) ■ Most innovative lawyer ■ 🏃♂️&🚴♀️
THE FUTURE OF COMPETITION LAW I talk about #antitrust everywhere and often - at conferences, at seminars organized by HAVEL & PARTNERS' Academy and mainly during competition trainings organised for our clients. So I should be used to giving presentations by now, right? Still, every time I have to talk to students at a university, it's a chore and I get nervous. How do I engage young people who probably haven't heard of antitrust? 😱 The antitrust course at the Právnická fakulta Masarykovy univerzity (Masaryk University Faculty of Law) in Brno (alma mater) has such strict admission conditions that only a handful of the most motivated students join. But it is worth it. I've been teaching it for more than 1️⃣ 5️⃣ years, and in that time I've met many students who later became competition practitioners or work at the competition authority. ❗ But most importantly, many of those who now form an integral part of the HAVEL & PARTNERS competition team have also taken the course. Just look at the carousel below. 🎡 Marian Minarik, Vladislav Bernard, Tomáš Varšo, Martin Vejtasa, Kateřina Horsáková, Igor Kučera and others. I cannot imagine not having them in the team. Funny - I even found records of most of them attending my seminars - check out the oldest one from 2012! This year's course featured particularly skilled students. I am pretty sure I will continue to meet some of them professionally. Maybe even at HAVEL & PARTNERS. 😏 So who will fill in the last blank on the other side of the carousel? 😏😏 Teaching young people can be tough. Yet I'm really excited about that. My profession, which is tiny but incredibly interesting, has a future. And that's the most promising message. #antitrust #university #competition

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Operations and Commercialisation); Managing Director, ICP Pty. Ltd.; Professor, CPEng & EngExec, Civil & Environmental Engineering. 🇦🇺🇺🇸
Combining the strengths of University of Adelaide (tenth in provisional filing in Australia with 20 filed) with that of the University of South Australia (18th in Australian-Resident filers with 8 filed) is another reason to be excited about the coming amalgamation of our two Universities to become Adelaide University. Bringing our strengths together will benefit innovation and society. I welcome feedback on the UoA Commercialisation ecosystem and ideas to improve it, as I am challenged by the result that the top ranking university Patent Applicant in Australia in 2023, is the University of California. I think this, however, speaks more to the attractiveness of companies conducting innovation with a U.S. Partner University, given the many incentives for doing so, rather than quality of either research- or attractiveness of commercialisation environments in Australia. Addressing this lead would therefore require a rethink in how research and innovation are funded federally across the University-Industry collaborative ecosystem. As we increase manufacturing capability in Australia, this is one more reason to rethink how research and innovation are funded and incentivised here at home.
