Leonard Bernstein captured something essential for when talking about the difference between design and art: “A work of art does not answer questions, it provokes them; and its essential meaning is in the tension between the contradictory answers.” Leonard Bernstein A design always exists, or is designed for a functional purpose, and the act of designing is always to create things that answer a need, or serve a purpose. There is, however, overlap between the two, a liminal space of attributes that can be shared. A design can be beautiful, and aesthetically or functionally revolutionary or thought-provoking while still retaining at its heart the core of being designed for a purpose, an answer to a question or a need. #MusingsOnDesign #Design

My first, interior design competition It's not about a good visual image or a design that looks very expensive, but conformity to the specified competition theme is more important than just trying to create a design that only satisfies other people's opinions. strategy, execution and what we decide in creating a design is more important.

𝟭𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗘 – 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 The 1st prize was taken in the pitch for the Meerstad project for which we made architectural portraits. As you can see beyond the model, its texture and rendering, is taste. A dance with conventions, an expression of finesse - it would lack something, if put bluntly, wouldn't it? Is it a fleeting detail, or is it the exact gravity of someone's focus? Still images have a peculiar quality of time standing still, mesmerizing by itself, that opens space for imagination and inspection while being infinitely patient. What counts, in the end, is the proximity an architectural portrait can establish between the design's vision and the viewer's cognition. Albeit the atmosphere, the materiality, the entourage, or even the subtlest of elements - something should anchor the attention and lead further. An accomplished composition becomes to the viewer a narrative that shows an unbuilt vision, don't you think?
