Where are my golfers? I’m excited for this event…you know I specialise in leadership training but did you know there are SO many similarities between golf and being a leader? Playing golf has taught me so much about leadership! 🏌️♂️ Just like in golf, being a great leader means staying focused, being patient, and thinking strategically. Here are a few lessons golf has reinforced: 1. **Preparation is Key**: Just as I practice my swing, leaders must prepare for meetings and projects. 2. **Adaptability**: Weather changes on the course, and business conditions change too. Adapt and keep moving forward. 3. **Patience and Resilience**: Not every shot lands where you want it. Learn from mistakes and stay resilient. Both golf and leadership are continuous journeys of improvement. Let's keep refining our skills and striving for excellence! See you in June at the Whitby Chamber of Commerce golf event at Royal Ashburn Golf Club #Leadership #Golf #ContinuousLearning #Resilience #leadershiptraining #teetime #supportlocal #chamberofcommerce #businessowner #whitby

Adherence to a methodology that doesn't adapt to changing circumstances can lead to misleading outcomes. In terms of World Golf Ranking calculations, if the actual number of events played were used as the denominator rather than an arbitrary denominator of 40, the number 1 ranked golfer would be Bryson DeChambeau and not Scotty Scheffler. This is not to say that Scotty Scheffler isn't currently the best golfer; rather it is an indication that Bryson DeChambeau should certainly be ranked higher than 10th. Hopefully, behind the scene, the World Golf Ranking body is working on updating their calculation methodology to more accurately reflect the current state of play.

While many modern sports were invented in or around the 19th century, basketball in 1891, baseball in the mid 1800s, and football in in the 1860s, golf is a bit of a different story. The origins of golf are highly debated in terms of its ancient history; however, the story of the modern game of golf started all the way back in the 15th century. Many people believe golf's starting point began with The Old Course at St. Andrews, where the 18-hole format of golf was first adopted in 1764. This is also debated between historians, as Musselburgh Links in Scotland has records of golf play dating back to 1672. Beyond this debate, the first records of a sport similar to golf are believed to have been from some time between the eighth and fourteenth centuries. Golf is one of the oldest sports in world history, and it continues to prevail as one of the most popular, and the most loved. As history shows, golf will not be going anywhere anytime soon, and more people will come to love the sport as time goes on.
