💫Mine Vaganti NGO representatives have attended the online closing conference of ACT STRONGER - a Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme project. 📣The online event took place on 11th of October 2024. During the conference, participants engaged in a series of inspiring discussions that highlighted the power of active citizenship.We reviewed key project activities from partner countries, focusing on critical topics like climate change, democratic debate during the COVID-19 crisis, migration, and security.🔐 ☑️Participants exchanged experiences and debated innovative democratic tools, media literacy, and equality. We wrapped up with an open debate on citizens' engagement with the EU, drawing reflections on the recent European Parliament elections. ✨ ACT STRONGER project aims to enable people to deepen their knowledge of the EU values, institutions, and policies by stimulating an informed public debate about benefits and challenges in major EU policy fields and a better understanding of the EU's achievements and benefits. 🌍 📣Stay tuned for more updates! Today, on September 15, the International Day of Democracy is observed worldwide. This is an important day even though democracy must be defended every day, all year around. We believe that Local democracy is a prerequisite for sustainable development, and recognising the prevailing trend for democratic reversal in different parts of the world, the importance of strengthening democracy at the local level cannot be emphasised enough. We work daily to strengthen citizens' voice and possibilities to influence issues that affect their everyday life - this is crucial to build and maintain democratic societies in a globalised world. Through our work we aim to: ◾ Support a reduction in inequality in partner countries ◾ Improve the inclusiveness of public policies and services ◾ Protect democratic freedoms and human rights ◾ Help close the gender gap in all aspects of development work and interventions ◾ Incentivise democratic participation (particularly of women, marginalised and vulnerable groups) ◾ Strengthen linkages with civil society actors ◾ Invest in protecting the integrity of public institutions and processes ◾ Strengthening democracy more broadly. ➡ Explore our global strategy to learn more about what we do to strengthen democracy in our partner countries: https://lnkd.in/de5eXKW4 #salarinternational #localdemocracy

💫 #TogetherForEqualityStrongerforAll 💫 🎉Today we come together to celebrate the adoption of the new EU Directives on #StandardsforEqualityBodies and discuss the way forward to ensure #Equality for all in Europe. Our Roundtable & Networking event was opened by Patrick Charlier, Co-Director of Unia and Chair of the Equinet Executive Board, who started us off with some inspiring points. 📜The newly adopted EU Directives on Standards reaffirm the EU’s commitment to equality and will empower #EqualityBodies with stronger #Independence, #Resources, and #Powers to drive positive change. 🔎As we celebrate this major achievement, for which Equinet has advocated for years, we must now focus on the transposition of these EU standards into national legislation to ensure real, lasting impact. Special thanks to the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (FADA) - Antidiskriminierungsstelle des Bundes and Unia for participating in this milestone 🤝 Let's continue working together for a more equal Europe! 💪

#accessibility and #inclusion must be at the core of strong democracies. On the occasion of #InternationalDemocracyDay, EBU emphasizes that there’s still much work to be done to remove obstacles for blind and partially sighted people in Europe when voting and running for office. We call on governments and policymakers to protect our rights. Improvements in the field of political participation can also be brought using the full potential of technological advances. 🤗 Let’s all work together to build a society where nobody is left behind.
