Today marks the conclusion of my incredible journey at Super73. I began as Customer Service Technical Support, both for B2C and B2B, in a contractual role, but as is often the case with startups, I found myself wearing many hats. From balancing showroom duties and service center tasks to managing inbound/outbound shipping of parts, every day was a new challenge and opportunity to learn. My role quickly evolved into Order Support, which naturally extended to Outbound Logistics. Eventually, I found my niche as Warehouse Coordinator, my longest-lasting and most impactful position. Over these 3 years and 8 months, I’ve grown immensely, not just professionally but personally. The last year and 10 months were particularly challenging as I balanced full-time studies in International Business with my responsibilities at Super73. Yet, these challenges were also the most rewarding. They honed my skills in time management, multitasking, and strategic thinking. I’m incredibly proud of my growth and achievements here. I've learned so much about logistics, customer service, and operational efficiency. But beyond the skills and experiences, what I treasure most are the relationships I’ve built. My colleagues have become friends, and these friendships feel like a second family. Their support and camaraderie have made every challenge manageable and every success sweeter. Super73 wasn’t just a job; it was a community where I found purpose and passion. I’ve never enjoyed learning and growing more than I have here and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity. Now, it’s time to take a well-deserved break, enjoy the summer, and refresh—something I haven’t done in a while. As I look to the future, I’m excited about new opportunities. After the summer, I’ll be starting my job search again. If anyone has ideas or connections to help me find a part-time job that I can balance with my studies, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you, Super73, for an unforgettable journey and for shaping me into the professional I am today. The picture attached was my ‘once’ in a lifetime experience as model at Super73 as well. 😅 #CareerJourney #NewBeginnings #JobSearch #Networking #Super73 #Gratitude

🚨 PROMOTION ALERT 🚨 Let me tell you about this ambitious young man, Jeison Hernandez. Back in December, Jeison walks into one of my stores with a résumé in hand, and says he’s looking for work. I interviewed him, and immediately noticed his potential. Jeison joined my team as an entry level sales associate a few days after Christmas, 2023. Since then, not only has he upheld the company and district values consistently, but he took on additional responsibility just to prove himself. He wanted to show me that he can do the job even without a title! Any time I needed someone to help with emergency coverage, he was the first one to step to the plate. Anytime I was unavailable to support another employee, he took the initiative to help out. When his shift ended for the day, and the business was still busy, he stayed off the clock to support his peers. Granted, I still made sure to compensate him for his time! Whenever he was presented with an obstacle, the first thing Jeison thinks about is what he CAN do to fix it, not about what he CAN’T do. All of this, without ask! As a result of his unconditional efforts, he was promoted to a Team Leader (Assistant Manager) in March, 2024. Following a successful February in his store, Jeison ended the first quarter of the year with 106% to his monthly Gross Profit target! Today, he was promoted to Store Manager for his Jackson Heights, Queens store. I love sharing internal growth stories such as this one, because tenure doesn’t necessarily dictate if someone should move up the ladder of hierarchy. But rather their merit, how they uphold the values of the community, extreme ownership, integrity, unconditional efforts and being able to keep their head high when during the HIGHS & the LOWS! I am hopeful that I will be able to share more stories like this in 2024 ⚡️ #PromotionStory #CP4L #CricketWireless #InternalGrowth #InvestInTheFrontline

Worth & the Workplace | The Science of Storytelling | Innovation | Change Leadership | Social Impact | The Future of Work | Growth | Motto: Be a Nice Human!
It wasn’t so long ago that I drove 11.6 miles to the bank in Lake Zurich, Illinois to cash in a jar full of change so that I could afford a pair of slacks and fuel for an interview I had the next day. I didn’t get the job. In fact - I didn’t get any of the jobs. I applied for more than 50 positions that summer, and didn’t 👏🏾 get 👏🏾 a single 👏🏾 offer. Two weeks later, I returned the slacks. I will never forget how relieved, mortified, and ashamed I felt all at the same time to have that $18 bucks put back into my hands. But this was gas money for the next interview - which I would do in pair of jeans, regrettably accept (then), and remember as one of the most important and impactful roles I’ve ever taken (now). At the time, TJ (my husband) had just gotten accepted into residency in Chicago. In the span of months, we uprooted everything we knew and the little we had to move to the big city where things were more expensive and people seemed less friendly. For the first time in a very long time, I felt so insecure. I didn’t have a job. I had no friends. And I couldn’t even afford to drive three hours across the state to visit my family. So - having waitressing experience, I started interviewing for roles in the service industry until someone finally offered me a waitressing job. At 23 years old with a college degree, stellar internship references and two years leading communications strategy for a national non-profit - I accepted a role as a waitress so that we could make ends meet in this new, unkind world. What a lot of people don’t realize is the role that work plays in our own self perception and identity. This is especially true in the US where our entire social framework is built around a vision of success that equates to capital, status and “living the dream.” And that’s not a bad thing. There is dignity in work. And every human - whether they are the CEO, the server or the HVAC technician deserves civility and respect for contributing to that ecosystem. I learned a lot about myself and the kind of person I want to be by stepping into that service role. A couple of things: 👉🏿 You are never too important to sweep the damn floor. No job, not in service or in the c-suite, is “too big” to contribute the small things. 👉🏿 The higher you climb the further back you need to reach. Stretch often, and not just in the direction of your own progress. 👉🏿 Inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. Allow yourself to see it, and it will find you. 👉🏿 Be kind to the most unkind people. They need it the most. I think we’ve all probably had a time or two when $18 bucks could make or break our situation. Remember that human and what it felt like for you. If you can’t do it for the waitress serving your dinner - do it for yourself as a reminder that we live in a world where nothing is guaranteed - But you can always choose to be kind and to stretch. #worthandtheworkplace #dignity #bekind #workhuman

🌟 The Power of Opportunity 🌟 In life, opportunities are like seeds waiting to be planted. Sometimes, all it takes is being aware of them and using them wisely to gain wisdom that lasts a lifetime. I recently had a chance to engage with different people during my work as a cashier, and the insights I gathered were invaluable: Customer 1: Shared their experience with a service that let them down when they needed it most. It reminded me how crucial reliability is in any service and the impact it has on customer trust. Customer 2: Used a creative method to sell his vintage truck by placing an ad and driving around. This is a brilliant example of simple, effective marketing that caught my attention. He almost got 5 visitors for that in front of me. Customer 3: Talked about career moves and the benefits of living in places like New Brunswick, where housing is more affordable than in Ontario. This conversation opened my eyes to new possibilities and potential life changes. These interactions taught me that opportunities to learn and grow are everywhere – in everyday conversations, in the stories people share, and in the experiences they recount. The key is to be open to them and to use each opportunity to gain new insights and knowledge. 🌱 Opportunity doesn’t just knock once. It’s always around us, waiting for us to recognize and seize it. 💡 Let's stay curious, keep learning, and embrace the opportunities that come our way. You never know what wisdom you might gain! #Opportunity #Learning #CustomerInsights #CareerGrowth #Wisdom

Life is so interesting, I tell ya. Your wants and career fulfillment today will look SO different tomorrow. Even if you’re 100% sure today it won’t change tomorrow, I guarantee you it will. Let me explain. When I was first starting to work way back around 15-years old; what was important for me was working in a busy fun environment. My measure of success was landing jobs in department stores, airports, malls. Sure enough, my very first job was at Target as a cashier (still one of my favorite jobs ever🤩). When I was tired of all that and wanted something different, working for a big corporation was what I wanted. I vividly remember driving around, seeing “cool office buildings” and thinking WOW I want to work there! Wearing cute little business attire outfits and not uniforms, climbing the corporate ladder, and mentioning I work for the corporate office every chance I got is what I wanted. And I got that - for over 17+ years. Now I see different corporate buildings and gets chills. It represents confinement, silly office politics, really uncomfortable clothing, annoying parking, and the absolute worst; pizza parties. The point is, we’re all in different stages of our lives and careers. What works for you will not for the next person and we’re all on our own different evolutions. My wants and desires in career fulfillment are completely different now than they were when I landed my first at 15. Now its all about freedom and independence; freedom from a structured routine and environment. Ability to work and perform anywhere, to have complete trust that the work will get done (really well too), and complete ability to be 100% creative in my approach. Regard of location, time, or outfit. No matter where you are on your journey I really hope you achieve it. Just be sure not to judge the person next to you because they’re most likely on a completely different journey on their own.

My first job out of college (and after my externship in London!) was as a Wedding & Social Events Coordinator at a hotel in Stevens Point. I really enjoyed that job—loved playing a part in making sure that the special moments in people's lives went off without a hitch, so they could celebrate with their families. The hotel's ownership group brought in new management company, and asked what we'd like to see change. I asked for additional responsibilities and opportunities to learn. That turned into me leading a small sales team for a sister property. My career was doing pretty well. Until, that is, they hired a new General Manager for the hotel. It was tough working for him. I felt like he'd say one thing in regional meetings and do the complete opposite at our own hotel. It wasn't long before I started waking up 3-4 days a week and immediately contemplated calling in sick to work. When you spend 60-80% of your work week not wanting to be there, you know something has to change, right? Here's another percentage: 100%. That was the amount of time I spent being negative about work, so much so that a mentor called me out on it. I knew I wasn't a negative person by nature, so I was determined to figure out what was going on. I had applied to Renaissance Learning once before, but when I applied a second time, things were different. I knew what I wanted: to work for a company with a strong mission, where it mattered whether or not I showed up to work every day. When they called me to tell me I had gotten the job, I knew things were going to be different for my career. And they were. At Renaissance, I was given opportunity after opportunity to learn and solve problems and tackle challenges. Within 3.5 months of working at Renaissance as a Sales Specialist, I was promoted to District Account Executive. Six years later, I left Renaissance because I knew I needed something else: to have each day be different. To make an impact at a smaller company. That's how I found myself at Securly. I tell this story because I don't think we give our own self-awareness nearly enough credit. We know what we want. We may not know it right away, but it comes to us eventually. And what we need will always change, depending on who we are at a given point in time. Our environment. Our priorities. You've got a great built-in internal compass. Don't be afraid to use it. #SelfAwareness #Intuition #InternalCompass #CareerDecisions

Hump Day! I believe that many of us went through changes during the pandemic that started in 2021. It feels like just yesterday, but soon we’ll be bidding farewell to 2024. After contracting COVID-19 and stepping away from my job as a car sales associate, I took some time off. Following a series of unexpected events, I decided to explore temporary job opportunities. During this period, I had various experiences that reshaped my perspective—because that's what life is all about. The Benefits: - Temporary jobs often allow you to choose work that fits your availability. - Variety of work experiences: Working in different places and with different companies allowed me to gain a broad range of skills and experience across various fields (Encompass Health, Hilltop Securities Inc., etc.) - Networking opportunities: I met extraordinary people who treated me well, and even though I didn’t stay in every job, they made me feel valued (Lauren Heinz-Doll). - Possibility of permanent employment: My current role came through a temp agency, which later offered me a permanent position. - Opportunity to try different roles. The Challenges: - Instability - Lack of benefits - Reduced sense of belonging - Repetitive or lower-skilled work This is based on my own experience, and everyone can have a different perspective. Overall, I don’t regret it! :) #journey #dfw
