Hugely under-appreciated CPG metric: GRABBABILITY The number of sellable units a grocery shopper can grab with one hand. CHOMPS is an example of a product with exceptionally good grabbability due to its long, skinny form factor. Compare it with Clif Bar. Both are $1.99 per unit at Trader Joe’s. And yet, I can wrap my hand around 7-8 CHOMPS, but just 1-2 Clif Bars. The result? More units of CHOMPS end up in my cart. Grabbability is *especially* key for impulse items. Takeaway: lean into items / packs / merchandising setups that allow shoppers to grab as many units as possible with one hand. #cpg #retail #didijustinventametric

Last week we posted about the importance of promotional display visibility as a component of Brands physical availability to shoppers. Here's a summary of the manufacturers who received the highest % share of Gondola End linear space in Woolworth's and Coles across the whole of 2023 calendar year. (This includes the wings on the Gondola Ends but doesn't include off location displays). Whilst there is some commonality there is also noticeable differences. If you compared to the 2022 results you would also see some major changes.
