In the last ten years, critical minerals have climbed the agenda for governments and companies as key components of the energy transition. This group of metals and minerals, including lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, copper, aluminium and rare earth elements, are crucial particularly to manufacture the batteries needed to store renewable energy and power electric vehicles (EVs). One of our summer interns Johannes Ondruch share his internship experience over the past 12 weeks with Parameta Solution. I’m a 3rd-year Economics and Management student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, with a passion for data and its applications in the business world. This summer, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work as an intern in the Automation and Governance team at Parameta Solutions. In my role, I’ve been involved in several impactful projects that have changed and streamlined the processes here, utilising automation, and genuinely changed the way people in the team work. These experiences have given me valuable insights into the importance of automation, the intricacies of data governance, and the power of technology in driving business success. My key takeaways: The Power of Automation from a Low-Code/No-Code Perspective: I had the opportunity to explore both traditional and low-code/no-code automation tools. It’s fascinating to see how impactful these tools can be in streamlining processes and making automation accessible to more teams. The People Make the Organisation: Throughout my internship, I’ve seen firsthand how the people at Parameta Solutions are truly the backbone of the company. I’ve enjoyed connecting with everyone here and learning from their expertise and enthusiasm. There has been a lot of talk about sudden spike in Equity Market Volatility recently, with little mention of volatility in one of the largest asset classes globally, the Interest Rate Derivative markets. The term structure of implied volatility of swap rates has witnessed a pronounced change in its shape, with the ‘top left’ of the volatility cube witnessing spikes as captured by the Parameta Solutions Interest Rate Swap Volatility (IRSV) indices for Euro, Dollar and Sterling markets.
