🌌Witness the Celestial Spectacle: Northern Lights Illuminate Skies Across the Globe!🌠
Prepare to be mesmerized as the heavens put on a show like no other! A powerful solar storm has set the stage for a breathtaking display of northern lights, gracing the skies over the United States and Europe with its ethereal glow. But as we marvel at this celestial phenomenon, let's also stay mindful of its potential impact on our technological infrastructure.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a rare severe geomagnetic storm warning, alerting us to the solar storm's potent effects. While this presents a rare opportunity to witness the aurora borealis in all its splendor, it also raises concerns about disruptions to power grids and communication networks.
Reports of sightings have already poured in from across the pond, with residents of the UK and parts of Europe treated to an enchanting display of colors dancing across the night sky. From hues of pink and blue to iridescent purple, the northern lights have left spectators spellbound, sharing their awe-inspiring encounters on social media.
But the show isn't over yet! According to NOAA, the solar storm's reach could extend across the Atlantic, offering viewers in the United States a chance to witness this celestial spectacle firsthand. So, whether you're in the UK, Europe, or the US, keep your eyes peeled for the aurora's luminous dance.
As we gaze skyward in wonder, let's remember the science behind this magical display. The northern lights are a result of charged particles from the sun interacting with the Earth's atmosphere, creating a dazzling array of colors and patterns.
So, if you find yourself beneath the celestial canvas of the northern lights, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature's cosmic ballet. And remember, while the aurora may captivate us with its splendor, let's also remain vigilant of its potential impact on our interconnected world.

Want a theme song for the #OceanDecade week in Barcelona?
I look forward to joining numerous discussions on the whole value chain of marine knowledge, from #OceanObserving and #OceanData management to #OceanPrediction and user-focused services. But in my Ocean Decade week's agenda, #OceanLiteracy is standing out with an impressive amount of side-events, in one of which I'm happy to promote the EuroGOOS Decade project #Scientists4OceanLiteracy. I will join the panel on Ocean Literacy and Science, sharing the stage with María del Carmen García Martínez, Instituto Español de Oceanografía, Sílvia Gómez Mestres, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Donata Canu, OGS, and Josep Lluís Pelegri, Institut de Ciències del Mar - CSIC. We will debate the concept of #ocean intelligence and the diversity of ways of acquiring and sharing knowledge.
#Sciencepopularization has become a focus of attention in the world of marine research, with initiatives promoted and funded by the European Commission and the UN. Furthermore, for years, we have been monitoring a wide range of national and local initiatives. However, it ain't all good for #oceanliteracy and #sciencecommunication. In a policy brief, #EuroGOOS stressed that societal engagement activities are still underfunded and under-recognized in the #oceanscience context. We put forward six recommendations to oceanographic and meteorological agencies to help them boost these activities as part of their core business: https://lnkd.in/e-ddvsnG. The barriers we still have are: lack of strategic support, gender imbalance, inaccessibility, short-termism of funding, shortage of impact projections & monitoring.
Yet, ocean literacy offers unprecedented opportunities for scientific institutions. It promotes co-design and co-production, #oceandata literacy and #opendata sharing, innovative visualization tools, multi and cross-sector partnerships among stakeholders from science, education, government, business, culture, recreation, and broader scientific horizons. Ocean literacy holds an amazing capacity for engaging new talents and promoting #bluecareers, and much more.
Cannot wait to exchange with colleagues at our event "Diving from local to global Ocean Literacy: Exploring, sharing, and developing successful practices to know, feel, and join the living Ocean" (9 April, 11:30-13:30 at the Institut de Ciències del Mar - CSIC, Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta, 37-49): https://lnkd.in/eti5nXeQ. We will focus on all aspects of ocean literacy well beyond the educational sector - join us in Barcelona or join later to co-develop a white paper! The session will also be transmitted on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/exDx8idt. Roommaker and Peacemaker
During a fascinating conversation with an impressive person, I realised that spatiality in the presentation of themes or mechanisms achieves its effect primarily through forward and backward shifts. (We are familiar with the movements to the right and left or up and down.) This is how you become a roommaker - and what topic would not be better suited than the topic of peace.
As a signet, a kind of statement - certainly ok. But from my point of view, peace has to happen in space, in reality, otherwise it remains a kind of manifesto. In my view, the complexity and diversity of possible approaches is only impressively visualised in the space.
The only challenge now is how to move the 8 elements with 8 linear drives each...

There is a fine line between leisure, creativity, immersive experiences/exhibitions, shows, theatre, ... I continue to insist on the importance of processes, of the use of tools adapted to the language of the different profiles and types of public. Art as experience. I fix my gaze on several artists whose work differs in process and result, but inspires and expresses equally.
And it is as important to enjoy the contributions of these artists as it is to listen to them and watch them work.
Art seems to continue in its maxim of being a voice, taking sides and reflecting the social pulse.
Within immersive cultural leisure, where both the pedagogical facet of the content (on a greater or lesser scale) and the theatrical effect accompanied by objects that bear witness to the virtual are attended to. The coexistence between the digital and the material is an encounter for the evolution towards learning and recognition in the traces that are always part of the past. Because, are there traces of the future?
