Some 1,500 hotel and #hospitality professionals took to the steps of New York City Hall this morning to rally in opposition to the proposed “Safe Hotels Act,” which would require hotels to obtain a license to operate in the city. The American Hotel & Lodging Association and AAHOA, along with other industry organizations, condemned the “destructive” act, claiming it would stifle jobs and economic development in #nyc. Local union Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, AFL-CIO supports the bill, though, and said it would “curb the use of exploit[at]ive subcontracting agencies in most hotels,” while also safeguarding certain health and safety protections. Hospitality means - “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.” And you can show this at a party you invite others to and a party you’re invited to; at an event you invite people to and at an event you’re invited to.
