🧑🧑🧒Thousands of families in the UK will soon benefit from a significant new employment right: the ability to take neonatal care leave from day one of employment. 📆From 6 April 2025, parents of babies requiring neonatal care will be entitled to up to 12 weeks of additional leave (and pay if eligible). 🧑🍼The new law applies to parents of babies admitted to neonatal care within their 28 days of life and who required at least a 7 day hospital stay. 👩🍼Parents can take 1 week of leave in respect of each week the baby receives neonatal care without interruption and begins the day after care started. 📅The leave must be taken within 68 weeks of the baby’s birth. 💰Employees will also receive statutory neonatal care pay if they have 26 weeks of continuous service and their earnings on average are at least £123 a week. ➡️There are quite a lot of complexities to this new right, so employers and HR staff should take care to understand it fully, put a policy in place setting out the right clearly. #employmentlaw #neonatal #neonatalcare #hrconsulting #hrconsultant #ukemploymentlaw #uklaw #ukbusiness #business #businessowner #businesstips #businessadvice #hradvisor #hradvice #yorkbusiness #yorkbusinesses #parentalrights #smallbusiness #uksmallbusiness #uksmallbusinessowners
