I'm starting to think that the incessant burnout we are feeling isn't because we are feeling overworked. It has more to do with our inability to disconnect from digital media. We are consistently "online". From the moment we wake up in the morning to the time we go to bed, we have something that is vying for our attention. When we aren't on our computers, we are on our phones. When we aren't on our phones we are glued to our TVs. And the cycle continues day after day. When was the last time you sat quietly without distraction? Without looking at your phone? It's a very difficult thing to do. Our brains aren't build to continually be processing. It needs rest. Even mindless scrolling causes our brains to process what we are seeing. The emotional responses we have are taxing and exhausting. We would all benefit from setting rules around how we interact and use digital devices.

Regional Manager - SMB West <> Results-Driven Customer Support Leader | Strategic Regional Manager with a Proven Track Record | Expert in Team Management, Problem Solving, and Process Improvement
Rant time... Why is it that some people have this unquenchable thirst to talk down to support techs? Seriously, you made the call or clicked for help, didn’t you? Yet, somehow, some folks conveniently forget that there's a living, breathing human being on the other end of that line, chat, or email. It's like they've lost their manners along with their common sense! And let's not ignore the elephant in the room - it doesn't matter if the support team is stationed in Bosnia, Serbia, France, India, Australia, or the USA. What matters is showing some basic human decency and giving these support staff the respect they deserve. They're not your personal stress relief or the target of your frustration just because your Wi-Fi's acting up! Let's face it, combining hospitality business and IT can be a stress bomb waiting to explode. So how about acknowledging the stress these folks handle and cutting them some slack? They're not robots, they're doing their best to assist you. The next time you reach out for help, remember that a little respect and understanding can make the world of difference. Treat them like real people because, surprise, they are!

The saying 'a broken clock is right twice a day' often suggests that there’s some value in something that's dysfunctional. However, this overlooks a crucial point: a broken clock is just that – broken. It’s not a reliable source of information, and its accidental correctness doesn’t redeem its overall unreliability. In life, this metaphor can be extended to various situations and relationships. Reliability, consistency, and functionality are key. Depending on something or someone that’s fundamentally 'broken' or unreliable can lead to misinformation and disappointment. It’s about recognizing the importance of dependable sources, whether it’s in objects or in people. While there’s optimism in thinking a broken clock still holds value, it's wise to seek out and repair what's broken or find alternatives that serve us better in the long run. Let's discuss the value of reliability and the importance of seeking functional solutions. 💬 Have you experienced situations where relying on something broken proved to be unwise? Share your thoughts in the comments. Our world needs more #positive, #useful, and #uplifting news. Current #news is fear-grabbing, doom-scrolling, unproductive, and just overall negative.
