Talking about change is good. But action is better. We’re launching something special. Austin started The Gen Z Club to empower and inspire young people through networking events. I started DIVERSE. to get young people hired and build careers they can be proud of. We’re coming together to host an early careers fair introducing hundreds looking for internships, apprenticeships and grad schemes to employers. And sharing insights that will help shape their careers. This is exactly the type of event I’d wish I’d gone to. I’m a big believer in: If you want to see it. Create it. Orchestrating Success: Reflections on Our Two-Day Internship Fair Journey As the curtains draw on our two-day internship fair, it's time to reflect on the journey that led to its resounding success. With nearly a month of meticulous planning and unwavering dedication, our team embarked on a mission to create an event that would not only meet but exceed expectations. And today, as we look back at the culmination of our efforts, we can't help but feel a sense of pride and fulfillment. From the outset, our goal was clear: to provide attendees with a truly enriching and valuable experience. This meant leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that every aspect of the fair was meticulously crafted to perfection. From coordinating with participating companies to curating insightful workshops and panels, every detail was thoughtfully considered to cater to the diverse needs and interests of our audience. One of the cornerstones of our success was the unwavering commitment and tireless efforts of every student from DJSCE ACM Student Chapter and the dedicated student coordinators of the Placement Cell. Their passion and dedication shone through every step of the way, from the early stages of planning to the final moments of execution. Their hard work and perseverance were the driving force behind the seamless execution of the event, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their invaluable contributions. But our success would not have been possible without the support and participation of our attendees and recruiters. Their enthusiasm and engagement not only enriched the experience for everyone involved but also reaffirmed the importance of events like these in fostering meaningful connections in the professional world. As we bask in the glow of our success, we are reminded of the power of collaboration, dedication, and perseverance. Intern Signing Day Recap: We have spent this week welcoming our Summer 2024 Interns for the Yates Central & South Texas Division! Our Internship is truly one of a kind and is very competitive. Between last September and March, we attended 9 Career Fairs, met hundreds of students, conducted 3 Intern Hiring events, interviewed 35 students, and offered 14 internships. All of that led up to a very exciting and much anticipated “signing day” on Monday! Nothing easy is worth having and these students are ready to put in the work! This summer all 14 Interns will be closely mentored and given the opportunity to learn construction on our mega projects. Having this type of experience is not easily obtained and will take them very far in their careers. Being able to lead and build relationships over the next 10 weeks with each of these individuals is a true honor for me! We have a full summer planned for them where they will be on a rotation schedule to gain hands on experience in the top 3 roles they are most interested in pursuing upon completion of school. Hi, My name is Shagun Singh and I am currently in my final year of graduation. This picture captures a significant moment during my college days - the day of the internship fair when I sat eagerly for interviews, feeling confident that my life was all planned out. Little did I know that as I approach the completion of my graduation, my perspective would drastically change, and I would be filled with both excitement and intimidation for my future and career. It's funny how life can throw unexpected challenges at us, making us question our path. But through introspection and countless thoughts, I've come to realize that having potential alone doesn't guarantee success without putting in the hard work. Basic efforts no longer cut it; it's about going the extra mile and embracing the value of relentless dedication. Today, I embrace the truth that there is no substitute for hard work.This platform has really helped me in not only making connections but interacting and learning from them personally. As my graduation draws near, I find myself filled with determination to embark on the exciting journey towards my goals. These college years have been truly precious, shaping not only my academic knowledge but also transforming my personality for the better. I am grateful for the experiences that have molded me into a wiser and more well-rounded individual.
