Why yoga for young people? We know from experience that yoga relaxes us, it helps us sleep, it releases pain, it helps us focus - most yoga students have expereinced all or some of these results. I guess it isn't so strange that when applied correctly by highly trained staff, to young people, you may get similar results in school - so we did an experiment in a school in North of England, which is for pupils with difficulties and found that their behaviour and academic outcomes improved by up to 50% ! Why do we practice yoga? For stress relief, connection to ourselves, for physical strength and flexibility, for mental clarity, for focus, the list goes on and on. Often times people don't have the time to go to a yoga studio, or are nervous of going, so the solution is to do a class on Zoom! I zoom all my classes so you feel like you are in the studio... go at you rown pace and no one can see you. The camera is on the class, and i have a mic so you can hear every word I say! Prātipaksha Bhāvana - cultivate the opposites of ignorance & suffering. In the Yoga-Sūtras, Patañjali gave us the timeless keys to unlock the doors to liberation. (Y-S 1.33, 2.33-34) It’s Yoga Practice, not yoga perfect! Practice loving-kindness, empathy, shared joy, equanimity. These are purposeful choices towards incremental improvements, which starts with a beginner’s mind to step out of the state of ignoring & step onto the path of mastery. Artisans in practice - let all you do be done with Love.
