My understanding of "Just-in-Time access" and "dynamic access" are that they are both terms related to managing user permissions in a network or system, but they are not necessarily the same thing. Just-in-Time (JIT) access refers to a security principle where access rights are granted to users on an as-needed basis, usually for a limited period. This approach minimizes the risk of unauthorized access because permissions are only active during a window when they're actually required. For instance, a user may be granted administrative rights to perform a specific task, after which the rights are revoked. Dynamic access, on the other hand, can be considered a broader term that encompasses various methods of providing access rights, which can change based on a variety of factors, such as user role, location, device security posture, and current threat levels. Dynamic access systems can make real-time decisions to grant or restrict access based on these contextual factors. While Just-in-Time access is a form of dynamic access, not all dynamic access control systems use Just-in-Time principles. JIT is specifically about the timing of the access, while dynamic access could involve other parameters for granting access.
