Recommendation #6 to increase trust! Create opportunities for people to participate and make sure they feel heard and included. If people feel heard, they’ll feel safer when opening up, creating an avenue for trust building. It's important for civil society organizations to listen to and co-create solutions with the communities they serve. Loyalty to specific people who are not in tight sync with the mission and how to achieve it will create factionalism and undermine the well-being of the community. It is often the case, and quite beautiful, that personal loyalties exist. However, it is also often the case, and quite ugly, when personal loyalties come into conflict with the organization's interests. #principleoftheday

I value the #ExpertAdvice from Ray Dalio every day! The words "Common Mission" are crucial to the strategic planning process. It is also important to know WHY someone is not consistent with, or disloyal to, the mission. #1 it could be that the person is a narcissist and wants to run their own business their own way. #2 could be that the common mission is not acceptable to everyone. Ray Dalio's book, "Principles" is a great tool to ensure the "Common Mission" is accepted by the team, consistently applied, and it is truly common for the entire team.

Another good one to keep yourself in check! But also worth mentioning that it’s always a dichotomy of opposing forces. Needless to say to that it’s not always black and white nor is it always clear if and when certain actions are not aligned with the overall mission. So it’s important to always know what the mission, the goal, the guiding north star Is in order to make the right choices. If the mission is not clear, it’s your responsibility to ask what thr specific outcome of the mission is and what is the why behind it. Once everything is clear. Everything is easy! Only one thing left to do: go and execute, support the Mission and get some sh!t done ✅ #leadership #startwithwhy #ownership #getshitdone

Love this advice on *upholding* community agreements over time. I'll add one challenge: securing actual unanimous "agreement" often gets overlooked, especially when lists are crowd-sourced. It's assumed that a request equals collective consent, missing the vital step of genuine buy-in. While taking the time to establish true agreements is well worth it for consistent groups, it's tricky for spaces with rotating members. Adhering to "agreements" established by a different set of people is actually just rules. In my experience, the term "agreement" isn't just semantics; it holds significance. Perhaps for fluid groups or one-time gatherings, a more fitting title could be "group asks." Or something else?

3moThis might come up as a basic understanding ,but a lot is lost in communication due to power imbalance, lack of access to information, cultural differences and mistrust amongst stakeholders. As rightly pointed out, a continuous and ongoing two way communication is necessary for a balanced delivery of benefits from development projects to all the stakeholders.
