🤑 Pitch competitions aren’t about winning $$ They're about winning evangelists. I’ve gone to many pitch competitions over the years, including Techstars' inaugural Demo Day in NYC (2011?) and Capital Factory’s event last night (congrats GearSwap.Shop, Electric Aviation, and The HIVE Maternal Wellness Center!). The most impactful pitches get this right: 📖 Storytelling. Craft a narrative that sticks – stories resonate, numbers fade. 🔊 Speak, don't read. Avoid the #1 mistake that founders make – too much copy. Captivate your audience (use storytelling), minimize the copy on your slides. BIG FONT for crucial details. 🎤 Assume your mic isn't working (it probably isn’t). Be loud so that the people in the back can hear you. Good pitches are heard, not just seen. 🎭 Add theater. Gesture, engage with the audience, respond to individual reactions. Add tone; monotones are a death blow when you’re presenting. Speak sloooooowly. 💡 Address key questions. Tackle the top 2-3 questions upfront. This leaves room for questions you may not have thought of. 🌐 Evangelists over dollars. Ultimately, pitch competitions are about winning evangelists, not just dollars :) #PitchPerfect #StartupSuccess #marketingtips #startuptips
