How do you like them apples?... When I came into the holistic wellness industry, with a focus on plant based nutrition – I wanted to make fruits and vegetables and holistic health SEXY! People generally think of sexy foods as those that are rich and decadent such as chocolate, butter and cheese etc. But there are plenty of ways to enjoy plant foods, be it how they’re cooked, presented or flavours you add that give them a little JUICE and makes them look and smell sexy on a plate. The more ATTRACTED we are to our food, the more likely we are to EAT IT! And that goes for our overall health and wellbeing practices, too! If you FEEL good in what you exercise in, then you are more likely to want to put it on and go exercise! If you FEEL excited about what you are making and creating in the kitchen, then you are more likely to want to make it and eat it. How we FEEL about what we’re doing, is just as important as the doing itself. https://lnkd.in/gs29Jvme You can check out one of my favourite and oldest snack recipes ‘Haloumi and Pear’ that helps get my point across. https://lnkd.in/gxEiZPv You can totally mix up the fruit to whatever is in season. Try using apples, peaches or nectarines instead of the pears. At the end of the day, HEALTHY is the new SEXY so for the love of apples…start eating them!

How to Stick With Your Healthy New Year’s Resolutions: Start with Tiny: Big changes can exhaust us, which is why we should start with changing only one element. If you have a craving for potato chips because they’re salty and good, swap them for Prime Planet’s crunchy green plantain chips which are salty, delicious, nutritious, and just as affordable. 1. Make it Obvious: If you know you love a spicy midnight snack, and you keep a bag of rolled chili lime tortilla chips within reach in your nightstand drawer, take charge of healthy New Year’s resolutions by changing that snack to Prime Planet’s habanero flavored Tostones chips. 2. Habit Stacking: Did you just finish a workout? Follow it with a protein shake and some clean (Tostones) carbs to promote recovery. Working out and healthy eating become best friends this way while meeting the goals of your healthy New Year’s resolutions. 3. Temptation Bundling: Do you watch TV after work? Pair it with a healthy habit. No more BBQ potato chips, munch on our BBQ Tostones chips, made with simple, organic ingredients. 4. Eating Healthier is a Marathon, Not a Sprint: In making healthy New Year’s resolutions it might seem tempting to do an overhaul of your behaviors, but doing so will cause a relapse into poor eating habits. Small victories, starting at the “atomic” level, and progressing one step at a time is how you’ll make 2024 the year in which you see a positive change in how you eat. Healthy snacking is a choice you can make from the comfort of your phone. UPFs do not have control over your mind or body, only you do, and there are tools like Yuka, a mobile app that empowers you at the grocery store or online, that will lead you to making better, informed decisions. Prime Planet's Tostones snack chips are the perfect addition to your journey towards meeting your healthy New Year's resolutions. Indulge guilt-free with our healthy snacking option that complements your new eating habits. Your mind, body, and heart will thank you for making Tostones a part of your wellness routine.

Embracing the Joy of Eating: Rethinking Calorie Counting and What it Means to Eat Healthy In a world where health and wellness trends dominate our social feeds, the quest to achieve the ideal weight has never been more prevalent. Portioning meals and meticulously counting calories have become the go-to methods for individuals aiming to gain, maintain, or shed pounds. Undoubtedly, understanding calorie intake and controlling portions are ABSOLUTELY crucial aspects of a balanced lifestyle. However, it's time to address the unhealthy obsession that has emerged from this practice. And I'm saying this as someone who spent years in university studying food science and nutrition. Picture this: a social gathering where friends gather to celebrate a milestone. Yet, instead of basking in the joy of camaraderie and delicious food, some guests arrive armed with scales, meticulously weighing every morsel that passes their lips. Others decline Grandma's delicious homemade feasts during Holidays because they're not 'optimally healthy' and instead pull out a pre-portioned boiled turkey breast with a side of steamed broccoli, fearing the deviation from their meticulously calculated macros, ruining the holiday vibe in the process. This obsession with portioning and calorie counting has permeated our social fabric, diminishing the simple pleasure of sharing a meal with loved ones or simply celebrating the world of delicious cuisines. "Food is a mixture of several nutrients and non-nutrients. The functions of food in human health can be categorized as its primary function in nutrition, its secondary function in palatability, and its tertiary function in bioregulation." (PMID: 26598906). Let me make something very clear: This is not a call to indulge in overeating, mindless consumption of junk food, or worse celebrating obesity and eating disorders. On the contrary, it’s a gentle but firm reminder of the following: Food, in its essence, serves a dual purpose. It not only nourishes our bodies through essential nutrition and bioregulation but also delights our taste buds, adding joy to our lives. Recognizing and embracing this duality is key to fostering a healthier relationship with food. This balanced approach allows us to celebrate the diverse flavors and textures that food offers, while still keeping our nutritional needs at the forefront. So, let's strive to find harmony between nourishment and enjoyment in our culinary journey. Savor each bite with gratitude and mindfulness. After all, true wellness encompasses not only physical health but also the joy and pleasure derived from the simple act of eating. Let's reclaim the pleasure of savoring each bite while still prioritizing our health. #HealthyEating #MindfulEating #Nutrition #Wellness #FoodCulture #BalancedDiet #EnjoyFood #FoodForThought

Mindful Eating Master for Anyone Tired of Dieting & Ready to Gain Self-trust • Certified Health Coach • 198LBS (2019) --> 133LBS (Since 2021) • You Deserve a Life of Confidence, Joy, & Peace
Preparing food before you're hungry, be it an hour or a day in advance, is a strategic approach that aligns well with the principles of mindful & intuitive eating. It helps to create an environment where you're in tune with your hunger cues & proactively managing your energy & nutritional needs, rather than reacting to them. Doing so can significantly reduce the likelihood of binge eating & here’s why: 1. Prevents Extreme Hunger: By the time we recognize we're hungry, our bodies might already be in a state of significant energy deficit. This can lead to overeating because the body is driving us to rapidly replenish energy stores. Preparing food in advance ensures that when hunger signals start, you have healthy, satisfying options readily available, which can help you eat in a more balanced & mindful manner. 2. Reduces Stress & Decision Fatigue: Deciding what to eat when you're already hungry can be overwhelming, leading to quick, less nutritious choices or overeating. Having meals prepared in advance removes this decision-making pressure, making it easier to choose foods that align with your body's needs & your wellness goals. 3. Enables Mindful Eating: When food is readily available, you're more likely to take your time eating, paying attention to the flavors, textures, & how your body feels. This mindfulness can lead to better satisfaction with meals and reduce the likelihood of turning to food for emotional comfort or out of boredom, which are common triggers for binge eating. 4. Helps Maintain Blood Sugar Levels: Eating regularly to prevent hunger can help maintain stable blood sugar levels, which is crucial for managing cravings & mood swings. When blood sugar levels drop, the body craves quick energy sources, often in the form of sugary or high-fat foods, which can lead to binge eating. 5. Encourages Nutritional Balance: Preparing food in advance gives you the opportunity to ensure your meals are nutritionally balanced, incorporating a variety of nutrients necessary for overall health. This balance is key in satisfying hunger & preventing nutrient deficiencies that might lead to specific food cravings or overeating. This requires a bit of planning & awareness of your body's cues, but it can be incredibly effective in fostering a more dependable relationship with food.

## Cultivating Wellness This Ramadan: From Fasting to Healthy Habits Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, but it can also be a springboard for positive changes in your well-being. This year, let's leverage the power of fasting to cultivate long-lasting healthy eating habits! **Prioritize Pre-Dawn (Suhoor) Fueling:** Don't underestimate Suhoor! Opt for complex carbs like whole grains and protein-rich foods like eggs or lentils for sustained energy throughout the day. **Break the Fast Wisely:** Resist the urge to overindulge at Iftar. Start with hydrating fluids and dates, then savor small portions of nutritious options like whole grains, lean protein, and vegetables. Minimize fried foods, sugary drinks, and processed snacks. **Embrace Mindful Eating:** Ramadan is a gift for mindful eating. Savor each bite, chew thoroughly, and listen to your body's hunger cues. Stop eating when comfortably full. **Hydration is Key:** Dehydration can be a challenge. Make a conscious effort to drink plenty of water throughout the night, between Iftar and Suhoor. **Plan for Success:** Pre-planning your Suhoor and Iftar meals goes a long way in making healthy choices. Consistency is key, so aim to maintain a healthy sleep schedule for optimal energy balance. **Remember:** If you have pre-existing health conditions, consult a doctor or registered dietician for personalized guidance. Ramadan is a beautiful journey of spiritual growth. Let's integrate healthy habits to nourish both our minds and bodies. **#Ramadan #healthyliving #wellbeing #mindfuleating #wellnessjourney** I hope this post inspires you to make positive dietary changes this Ramadan!
